| بل عجبوا أن جاءهم منذر منهم فقال الكافرون هذا شيء عجيب
بَلْ عَجِبُوا أَن جَاءَهُمْ مُنذِرٌ مِّنْهُمْ فَقَالَ الْكَافِرُونَ هَذَا شَيْءٌ عَجِيبٌ |

| Yusuf Ali | But they wonder that there has come to them a Warner from among themselves. So the Unbelievers say: "This is a wonderful thing!

| أإذا متنا وكنا ترابا ذلك رجع بعيد
أَئِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا ذَلِكَ رَجْعٌ بَعِيدٌ |

| Yusuf Ali | "What! When we die and become dust, (shall we live again?) That is a (sort of) return far (from our understanding)."

| قد علمنا ما تنقص الأرض منهم وعندنا كتاب حفيظ
قَدْ عَلِمْنَا مَا تَنقُصُ الْأَرْضُ مِنْهُمْ وَعِندَنَا كِتَابٌ حَفِيظٌ |

| Yusuf Ali | We already know how much of them the earth takes away: With Us is a record guarding (the full account).

[50:5] | Bal kaththaboo bialhaqqilamma jaahum fahum fee amrin mareejin
| بل كذبوا بالحق لما جاءهم فهم في أمر مريج
بَلْ كَذَّبُوا بِالْحَقِّ لَمَّا جَاءَهُمْ فَهُمْ فِي أَمْرٍ مَّرِيجٍ |

| Yusuf Ali | But they deny the Truth when it comes to them: so they are in a confused state.

[50:6] | Afalam yanthuroo ila alssama-ifawqahum kayfa banaynaha wazayyannahawama laha min furoojin
| أفلم ينظروا إلى السماء فوقهم كيف بنيناها وزيناها وما لها من فروج
أَفَلَمْ يَنظُرُوا إِلَى السَّمَاءِ فَوْقَهُمْ كَيْفَ بَنَيْنَاهَا وَزَيَّنَّاهَا وَمَا لَهَا مِن فُرُوجٍ |

| Yusuf Ali | Do they not look at the sky above them?- How We have made it and adorned it, and there are no flaws in it?

[50:7] | Waal-arda madadnahawaalqayna feeha rawasiya waanbatnafeeha min kulli zawjin baheejin
| والأرض مددناها وألقينا فيها رواسي وأنبتنا فيها من كل زوج بهيج
وَالْأَرْضَ مَدَدْنَاهَا وَأَلْقَيْنَا فِيهَا رَوَاسِيَ وَأَنبَتْنَا فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ زَوْجٍ بَهِيجٍ |

| Yusuf Ali | And the earth- We have spread it out, and set thereon mountains standing firm, and produced therein every kind of beautiful growth (in pairs)-

| تبصرة وذكرى لكل عبد منيب
تَبْصِرَةً وَذِكْرَى لِكُلِّ عَبْدٍ مُّنِيبٍ |

| ونزلنا من السماء ماء مباركا فأنبتنا به جنات وحب الحصيد
وَنَزَّلْنَا مِنَ السَّمَاءِ مَاءً مُّبَارَكًا فَأَنبَتْنَا بِهِ جَنَّاتٍ وَحَبَّ الْحَصِيدِ |

| Yusuf Ali | And We send down from the sky rain charted with blessing, and We produce therewith gardens and Grain for harvests;

| والنخل باسقات لها طلع نضيد
وَالنَّخْلَ بَاسِقَاتٍ لَّهَا طَلْعٌ نَّضِيدٌ |

| Yusuf Ali | And tall (and stately) palm-trees, with shoots of fruit-stalks, piled one over another;-

| رزقا للعباد وأحيينا به بلدة ميتا كذلك الخروج
رِّزْقًا لِّلْعِبَادِ وَأَحْيَيْنَا بِهِ بَلْدَةً مَّيْتًا كَذَلِكَ الْخُرُوجُ |

| Yusuf Ali | As sustenance for (Allah's) Servants;- and We give (new) life therewith to land that is dead: Thus will be the Resurrection.

| كذبت قبلهم قوم نوح وأصحاب الرس وثمود
كَذَّبَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ وَأَصْحَابُ الرَّسِّ وَثَمُودُ |

| Yusuf Ali | Before them was denied (the Hereafter) by the People of Noah, the Companions of the Rass, the Thamud,

[50:13] | WaAAadun wafirAAawnu wa-ikhwanulootin
| وعاد وفرعون وإخوان لوط
وَعَادٌ وَفِرْعَوْنُ وَإِخْوَانُ لُوطٍ |

| Yusuf Ali | The 'Ad, Pharaoh, the brethren of Lut,

[50:14] | Waas-habu al-aykati waqawmutubbaAAin kullun kaththaba alrrusula fahaqqawaAAeedi
| وأصحاب الأيكة وقوم تبع كل كذب الرسل فحق وعيد
وَأَصْحَابُ الْأَيْكَةِ وَقَوْمُ تُبَّعٍ كُلٌّ كَذَّبَ الرُّسُلَ فَحَقَّ وَعِيدِ |

| Yusuf Ali | The Companions of the Wood, and the People of Tubba'; each one (of them) rejected the messengers, and My warning was duly fulfilled (in them).

[50:15] | AfaAAayeena bialkhalqial-awwali bal hum fee labsin min khalqin jadeedin
| أفعيينا بالخلق الأول بل هم في لبس من خلق جديد
أَفَعَيِينَا بِالْخَلْقِ الْأَوَّلِ بَلْ هُمْ فِي لَبْسٍ مِّنْ خَلْقٍ جَدِيدٍ |

| Yusuf Ali | Were We then weary with the first Creation, that they should be in confused doubt about a new Creation?

[50:16] | Walaqad khalaqna al-insanawanaAAlamu ma tuwaswisu bihi nafsuhu wanahnu aqrabuilayhi min habli alwareedi
| ولقد خلقنا الإنسان ونعلم ما توسوس به نفسه ونحن أقرب إليه من حبل الوريد
وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الْإِنسَانَ وَنَعْلَمُ مَا تُوَسْوِسُ بِهِ نَفْسُهُ وَنَحْنُ أَقْرَبُ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ حَبْلِ الْوَرِيدِ |

| Yusuf Ali | It was We Who created man, and We know what dark suggestions his soul makes to him: for We are nearer to him than (his) jugular vein.

[50:17] | Ith yatalaqqa almutalaqqiyaniAAani alyameeni waAAani alshshimali qaAAeedun
| إذ يتلقى المتلقيان عن اليمين وعن الشمال قعيد
إِذْ يَتَلَقَّى الْمُتَلَقِّيَانِ عَنِ الْيَمِينِ وَعَنِ الشِّمَالِ قَعِيدٌ |

| Yusuf Ali | Behold, two (guardian angels) appointed to learn (his doings) learn (and noted them), one sitting on the right and one on the left.

| Words | |إذ - When| يتلقى - receive| المتلقيان - the two receivers| عن - on| اليمين - the right| وعن - and on| الشمال - the left| قعيد - seated.| |

| ما يلفظ من قول إلا لديه رقيب عتيد
مَا يَلْفِظُ مِن قَوْلٍ إِلَّا لَدَيْهِ رَقِيبٌ عَتِيدٌ |

| Yusuf Ali | Not a word does he utter but there is a sentinel by him, ready (to note it).

[50:19] | Wajaat sakratu almawti bialhaqqithalika ma kunta minhu taheedu
| وجاءت سكرة الموت بالحق ذلك ما كنت منه تحيد
وَجَاءَتْ سَكْرَةُ الْمَوْتِ بِالْحَقِّ ذَلِكَ مَا كُنتَ مِنْهُ تَحِيدُ |

| Yusuf Ali | And the stupor of death will bring Truth (before his eyes): "This was the thing which thou wast trying to escape!"

| Words | |وجاءت - And will come| سكرة - (the) stupor| الموت - (of) death| بالحق - in truth,| ذلك - "That| ما - (is) what| كنت - you were| منه - [from it]| تحيد - avoiding."| |

[50:20] | Wanufikha fee alssoori thalikayawmu alwaAAeedi
| ونفخ في الصور ذلك يوم الوعيد
وَنُفِخَ فِي الصُّورِ ذَلِكَ يَوْمُ الْوَعِيدِ |

| Yusuf Ali | And the Trumpet shall be blown: that will be the Day whereof Warning (had been given).
|
| Words | |ونفخ - And will be blown| في - [in]| الصور - the trumpet.| ذلك - That| يوم - (is the) Day| الوعيد - (of) the Warning.| |

[50:21] | Wajaat kullu nafsin maAAaha sa-iqunwashaheedun
| وجاءت كل نفس معها سائق وشهيد
وَجَاءَتْ كُلُّ نَفْسٍ مَّعَهَا سَائِقٌ وَشَهِيدٌ |

| Yusuf Ali | And there will come forth every soul: with each will be an (angel) to drive, and an (angel) to bear witness.
|
| Words | |وجاءت - And will come| كل - every| نفس - soul,| معها - with it| سائق - a driver| وشهيد - and a witness.| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور ہر جان (ہمارے حضور اس طرح) آئے گی کہ اُس کا ایک ہانکنے والا (فرشتہ) اور (دوسرا اعمال پر) گواہ ہوگا، |

[50:22] | Laqad kunta fee ghaflatin min hathafakashafna AAanka ghitaaka fabasarukaalyawma hadeedun
| لقد كنت في غفلة من هذا فكشفنا عنك غطاءك فبصرك اليوم حديد
لَقَدْ كُنتَ فِي غَفْلَةٍ مِّنْ هَذَا فَكَشَفْنَا عَنكَ غِطَاءَكَ فَبَصَرُكَ الْيَوْمَ حَدِيدٌ |

| Yusuf Ali | (It will be said:) "Thou wast heedless of this; now have We removed thy veil, and sharp is thy sight this Day!"

| Words | |لقد - "Certainly| كنت - you were| في - in| غفلة - heedlessness| من - of| هذا - this.| فكشفنا - So We have removed| عنك - from you| غطاءك - your cover,| فبصرك - so your sight| اليوم - today| حديد - (is) sharp."| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | حقیقت میں تُو اِس (دن) سے غفلت میں پڑا رہا سو ہم نے تیرا پردۂ (غفلت) ہٹا دیا پس آج تیری نگاہ تیز ہے، |

[50:23] | Waqala qareenuhu hatha maladayya AAateedun
| وقال قرينه هذا ما لدي عتيد
وَقَالَ قَرِينُهُ هَذَا مَا لَدَيَّ عَتِيدٌ |

| Yusuf Ali | And his Companion will say: "Here is (his Record) ready with me!"
|
| Words | |وقال - And (will) say| قرينه - his companion,| هذا - "This| ما - (is) what| لدي - (is) with me| عتيد - ready."| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور اس کے ساتھ رہنے والا (فرشتہ) کہے گا: یہ ہے جو کچھ میرے پاس تیار ہے، |

[50:24] | Alqiya fee jahannama kulla kaffarinAAaneedin
| ألقيا في جهنم كل كفار عنيد
أَلْقِيَا فِي جَهَنَّمَ كُلَّ كَفَّارٍ عَنِيدٍ |

| Yusuf Ali | (The sentence will be:) "Throw, throw into Hell every contumacious Rejecter (of Allah)!-

[50:25] | MannaAAin lilkhayri muAAtadin mureebin
| مناع للخير معتد مريب
مَّنَّاعٍ لِّلْخَيْرِ مُعْتَدٍ مُّرِيبٍ |

| Yusuf Ali | "Who forbade what was good, transgressed all bounds, cast doubts and suspicions;

| الذي جعل مع الله إلها آخر فألقياه في العذاب الشديد
الَّذِي جَعَلَ مَعَ اللَّهِ إِلَهًا آخَرَ فَأَلْقِيَاهُ فِي الْعَذَابِ الشَّدِيدِ |

| Yusuf Ali | "Who set up another god beside Allah: Throw him into a severe penalty."
|
| Words | |الذي - Who| جعل - made| مع - with| الله - Allah| إلها - a god| آخر - another;| فألقياه - so throw him| في - in(to)| العذاب - the punishment| الشديد - the severe."| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | جس نے اﷲ کے ساتھ دوسرا معبود ٹھہرا رکھا تھا سو تم اسے سخت عذاب میں ڈال دو، |

[50:27] | Qala qareenuhu rabbana maatghaytuhu walakin kana fee dalalinbaAAeedin
| قال قرينه ربنا ما أطغيته ولكن كان في ضلال بعيد
قَالَ قَرِينُهُ رَبَّنَا مَا أَطْغَيْتُهُ وَلَكِن كَانَ فِي ضَلَالٍ بَعِيدٍ |

| Yusuf Ali | His Companion will say: "Our Lord! I did not make him transgress, but he was (himself) far astray."
|
| Words | |قال - Will say| قرينه - his companion,| ربنا - "Our Lord,| ما - not| أطغيته - I made him transgress,| ولكن - but| كان - he was| في - in| ضلال - error| بعيد - far."| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | (اب) اس کا (دوسرا) ساتھی (شیطان) کہے گا: اے ہمارے رب! اِسے میں نے گمراہ نہیں کیا بلکہ یہ (خود ہی) پرلے درجے کی گمراہی میں مبتلا تھا، |

[50:28] | Qala la takhtasimooladayya waqad qaddamtu ilaykum bialwaAAeedi

يَوْمَ نَقُولُ لِجَهَنَّمَ هَلِ امْتَلَأْتِ وَتَقُولُ هَلْ مِن مَّزِيدٍ |
