| والقمر إذا تلاها
وَالْقَمَرِ إِذَا تَلَاهَا |

| والنهار إذا جلاها
وَالنَّهَارِ إِذَا جَلَّاهَا |

| Yusuf Ali | By the Day as it shows up (the Sun's) glory;

[91:4] | Waallayli itha yaghshaha
| والليل إذا يغشاها
وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَاهَا |

| Yusuf Ali | By the Night as it conceals it;

| Words | |والليل - And the night| إذا - when| يغشاها - it covers it,| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور رات کی قَسم جب وہ سورج کو (زمین کی ایک سمت سے) ڈھانپ لے، |

[91:5] | Waalssama-i wama banaha
| والسماء وما بناها
وَالسَّمَاءِ وَمَا بَنَاهَا |

| Yusuf Ali | By the Firmament and its (wonderful) structure;

| Words | |والسماء - And the heaven| وما - and (He) Who| بناها - constructed it,| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور آسمان کی قَسم اور اس (قوت) کی قَسم جس نے اسے (اذنِ الٰہی سے ایک وسیع کائنات کی شکل میں) تعمیر کیا، |

[91:6] | Waal-ardi wama tahaha
| والأرض وما طحاها
وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا طَحَاهَا |

| Yusuf Ali | By the Earth and its (wide) expanse:

| Words | |والأرض - And the earth| وما - and by (He) Who| طحاها - spread it,| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور زمین کی قَسم اور اس (قوت) کی قَسم جو اسے (امرِ الٰہی سے سورج سے کھینچ دور) لے گئی، |

[91:7] | Wanafsin wama sawwaha
| ونفس وما سواها
وَنَفْسٍ وَمَا سَوَّاهَا |

| Yusuf Ali | By the Soul, and the proportion and order given to it;
|
| Words | |ونفس - And (the) soul| وما - and (He) Who| سواها - proportioned it,| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور انسانی جان کی قَسم اور اسے ہمہ پہلو توازن و درستگی دینے والے کی قَسم، |

[91:8] | Faalhamaha fujooraha wataqwaha
| فألهمها فجورها وتقواها
فَأَلْهَمَهَا فُجُورَهَا وَتَقْوَاهَا |

| Yusuf Ali | And its enlightenment as to its wrong and its right;-
|
| Words | |فألهمها - And He inspired it| فجورها - (to distinguish) its wickedness| وتقواها - and its righteousness| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | پھر اس نے اسے اس کی بدکاری اور پرہیزگاری (کی تمیز) سمجھا دی، |

[91:9] | Qad aflaha man zakkaha
| قد أفلح من زكاها
قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَن زَكَّاهَا |

| Yusuf Ali | Truly he succeeds that purifies it,

| Words | |قد - Indeed,| أفلح - he succeeds| من - who| زكاها - purifies it,| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | بیشک وہ شخص فلاح پا گیا جس نے اس (نفس) کو (رذائل سے) پاک کر لیا (اور اس میں نیکی کی نشو و نما کی)، |

[91:10] | Waqad khaba man dassaha
| وقد خاب من دساها
وَقَدْ خَابَ مَن دَسَّاهَا |

| Yusuf Ali | And he fails that corrupts it!
|
| Words | |وقد - And indeed,| خاب - he fails| من - who| دساها - buries it.| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور بیشک وہ شخص نامراد ہوگیا جس نے اسے (گناہوں میں) ملوث کر لیا (اور نیکی کو دبا دیا)، |

[91:11] | Kaththabat thamoodu bitaghwaha
| كذبت ثمود بطغواها
كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ بِطَغْوَاهَا |

| Yusuf Ali | The Thamud (people) rejected (their prophet) through their inordinate wrong-doing,
|
| Words | |كذبت - Denied| ثمود - Thamud| بطغواها - by their transgression,| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | ثمود نے اپنی سرکشی کے باعث (اپنے پیغمبر صالح علیہ السلام کو) جھٹلایا، |

[91:12] | Ithi inbaAAatha ashqaha
| إذ انبعث أشقاها
إِذِ انبَعَثَ أَشْقَاهَا |

| Yusuf Ali | Behold, the most wicked man among them was deputed (for impiety).
|
| Words | |إذ - When| انبعث - (was) sent forth| أشقاها - (the) most wicked of them.| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | جبکہ ان میں سے ایک بڑا بد بخت اٹھا، |

[91:13] | Faqala lahum rasoolu Allahi naqataAllahi wasuqyaha
| فقال لهم رسول الله ناقة الله وسقياها
فَقَالَ لَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ نَاقَةَ اللَّهِ وَسُقْيَاهَا |
|---|
| Yusuf Ali | But the Messenger of Allah said to them: "It is a She-camel of Allah! And (bar her not from) having her drink!"
|
| Words | |فقال - But said| لهم - to them| رسول - (the) Messenger| الله - (of) Allah,| ناقة - "(It is the) she-camel| الله - (of) Allah| وسقياها - and her drink."| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | ان سے اﷲ کے رسول نے فرمایا: اﷲ کی (اس) اونٹنی اور اس کو پانی پلانے (کے دن) کی حفاظت کرنا، |

[91:14] | Fakaththaboohu faAAaqaroohafadamdama AAalayhim rabbuhum bithanbihim fasawwaha
| فكذبوه فعقروها فدمدم عليهم ربهم بذنبهم فسواها
فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَعَقَرُوهَا فَدَمْدَمَ عَلَيْهِمْ رَبُّهُم بِذَنبِهِمْ فَسَوَّاهَا |
|---|
| Yusuf Ali | Then they rejected him (as a false prophet), and they hamstrung her. So their Lord, on account of their crime, obliterated their traces and made them equal (in destruction, high and low)!

| Words | |فكذبوه - But they denied him,| فعقروها - and they hamstrung her.| فدمدم - So destroyed| عليهم - them| ربهم - their Lord| بذنبهم - for their sin| فسواها - and leveled them.| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | تو انہوں نے اس (رسول) کو جھٹلا دیا، پھر اس (اونٹنی) کی کونچیں کاٹ ڈالیں تو ان کے رب نے ان کے گناہ کی وجہ سے ان پر ہلاکت نازل کر دی، پھر (پوری) بستی کو (تباہ کر کے عذاب میں سب کو) برابر کر دیا، |

[91:15] | Wala yakhafu AAuqbaha
| ولا يخاف عقباها
وَلَا يَخَافُ عُقْبَاهَا |

| Yusuf Ali | And for Him is no fear of its consequences.
|
| Words | |ولا - And not| يخاف - He fears| عقباها - its consequences.| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور اﷲ کو اس (ہلاکت) کے انجام کا کوئی خوف نہیں ہوتا، |
