|  الحمد لله الذي أنزل على عبده الكتاب ولم يجعل له عوجا
الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَنزَلَ عَلَى عَبْدِهِ الْكِتَابَ وَلَمْ يَجْعَل لَّهُ عِوَجَا |

| Yusuf Ali | Praise be to Allah, Who hath sent to His Servant the Book, and hath allowed therein no Crookedness:
|
| Words | |الحمد - All Praise| لله - (is) for Allah| الذي - the One Who| أنزل - (has) revealed| على - to| عبده - His slave| الكتاب - the Book,| ولم - and not| يجعل - (has) made| له - in it| عوجا - any crookedness.| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | تمام تعریفیں اﷲ ہی کے لئے ہیں جس نے اپنے (محبوب و مقرّب) بندے پر کتابِ (عظیم) نازل فرمائی اور اس میں کوئی کجی نہ رکھی، |

[18:2] | Qayyiman liyunthira ba/san shadeedanmin ladunhu wayubashshira almu/mineena allatheenayaAAmaloona alssalihati anna lahum ajran hasanan
| قيما لينذر بأسا شديدا من لدنه ويبشر المؤمنين الذين يعملون الصالحات أن لهم أجرا حسنا
قَيِّمًا لِّيُنذِرَ بَأْسًا شَدِيدًا مِن لَّدُنْهُ وَيُبَشِّرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ الَّذِينَ يَعْمَلُونَ الصَّالِحَاتِ أَنَّ لَهُمْ أَجْرًا حَسَنًا |

| Yusuf Ali | (He hath made it) Straight (and Clear) in order that He may warn (the godless) of a terrible Punishment from Him, and that He may give Glad Tidings to the Believers who work righteous deeds, that they shall have a goodly Reward,

| Tahir ul Qadri | (اسے) سیدھا اور معتدل (بنایا) تاکہ وہ (منکرین کو) اﷲ کی طرف سے (آنے والے) شدید عذاب سے ڈرائے اور مومنین کو جو نیک اعمال کرتے ہیں خوشخبری سنائے کہ ان کے لئے بہتر اجر (جنت) ہے، |

[18:3] | Makitheena feehi abadan
| ماكثين فيه أبدا
مَاكِثِينَ فِيهِ أَبَدًا |

| Yusuf Ali | Wherein they shall remain for ever:

| Words | |ماكثين - (They will) abide| فيه - in it| أبدا - forever.| |

[18:4] | Wayunthira allatheena qalooittakhatha Allahu waladan
| وينذر الذين قالوا اتخذ الله ولدا
وَيُنذِرَ الَّذِينَ قَالُوا اتَّخَذَ اللَّهُ وَلَدًا |

| Yusuf Ali | Further, that He may warn those (also) who say, "Allah hath begotten a son":

| Words | |وينذر - And to warn| الذين - those who| قالوا - say,| اتخذ - "Allah has taken| الله - "Allah has taken| ولدا - a son."| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور (نیز) ان لوگوں کو ڈرائے جو کہتے ہیں کہ اﷲ نے (اپنے لئے) لڑکا بنا رکھا ہے، |

[18:5] | Ma lahum bihi min AAilmin walali-aba-ihim kaburat kalimatan takhruju min afwahihimin yaqooloona illa kathiban
| ما لهم به من علم ولا لآبائهم كبرت كلمة تخرج من أفواههم إن يقولون إلا كذبا
مَّا لَهُم بِهِ مِنْ عِلْمٍ وَلَا لِآبَائِهِمْ كَبُرَتْ كَلِمَةً تَخْرُجُ مِنْ أَفْوَاهِهِمْ إِن يَقُولُونَ إِلَّا كَذِبًا |

| Yusuf Ali | No knowledge have they of such a thing, nor had their fathers. It is a grievous thing that issues from their mouths as a saying what they say is nothing but falsehood!

| Tahir ul Qadri | نہ اس کا کوئی علم انہیں ہے اور نہ ان کے باپ دادا کو تھا، (یہ) کتنا بڑا بول ہے جو ان کے منہ سے نکل رہا ہے، وہ (سراسر) جھوٹ کے سوا کچھ کہتے ہی نہیں، |

[18:6] | FalaAAallaka bakhiAAun nafsaka AAalaatharihim in lam yu/minoo bihatha alhadeethiasafan
| فلعلك باخع نفسك على آثارهم إن لم يؤمنوا بهذا الحديث أسفا
فَلَعَلَّكَ بَاخِعٌ نَّفْسَكَ عَلَى آثَارِهِمْ إِن لَّمْ يُؤْمِنُوا بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ أَسَفًا |

| Yusuf Ali | Thou wouldst only, perchance, fret thyself to death, following after them, in grief, if they believe not in this Message.

| Words | |فلعلك - Then perhaps you would (be)| باخع - the one who kills| نفسك - yourself| على - over| آثارهم - their footsteps,| إن - if| لم - not| يؤمنوا - they believe| بهذا - in this| الحديث - [the] narration,| أسفا - (in) grief.| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | (اے حبیبِ مکرّم!) تو کیا آپ ان کے پیچھے شدتِ غم میں اپنی جانِ (عزیز بھی) گھلا دیں گے اگر وہ اس کلامِ (ربّانی) پر ایمان نہ لائے، |

[18:7] | Inna jaAAalna ma AAalaal-ardi zeenatan laha linabluwahum ayyuhum ahsanuAAamalan
| إنا جعلنا ما على الأرض زينة لها لنبلوهم أيهم أحسن عملا
إِنَّا جَعَلْنَا مَا عَلَى الْأَرْضِ زِينَةً لَّهَا لِنَبْلُوَهُمْ أَيُّهُمْ أَحْسَنُ عَمَلاً |

| Yusuf Ali | That which is on earth we have made but as a glittering show for the earth, in order that We may test them - as to which of them are best in conduct.

| Tahir ul Qadri | اور بیشک ہم نے اُن تمام چیزوں کو جو زمین پر ہیں اس کے لئے باعثِ زینت (و آرائش) بنایا تاکہ ہم ان لوگوں کو (جو زمین کے باسی ہیں) آزمائیں کہ ان میں سے بہ اِعتبارِ عمل کون بہتر ہے، |

[18:8] | Wa-inna lajaAAiloona maAAalayha saAAeedan juruzan
| وإنا لجاعلون ما عليها صعيدا جرزا
وَإِنَّا لَجَاعِلُونَ مَا عَلَيْهَا صَعِيدًا جُرُزًا |

| Yusuf Ali | Verily what is on earth we shall make but as dust and dry soil (without growth or herbage).

| Words | |وإنا - And indeed, We| لجاعلون - (will) surely make| ما - what| عليها - (is) on it| صعيدا - soil| جرزا - barren.| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور بیشک ہم اِن (تمام) چیزوں کو جو اس (روئے زمین) پر ہیں (نابود کر کے) بنجر میدان بنا دینے والے ہیں، |

[18:9] | Am hasibta anna as-habaalkahfi waalrraqeemi kanoo min ayatinaAAajaban
| أم حسبت أن أصحاب الكهف والرقيم كانوا من آياتنا عجبا
أَمْ حَسِبْتَ أَنَّ أَصْحَابَ الْكَهْفِ وَالرَّقِيمِ كَانُوا مِنْ آيَاتِنَا عَجَبًا |

| Yusuf Ali | Or dost thou reflect that the Companions of the Cave and of the Inscription were wonders among Our Sign?
|
| Words | |أم - Or| حسبت - have you thought| أن - that| أصحاب - (the) companions| الكهف - (of) the cave| والرقيم - and the inscription| كانوا - were,| من - among| آياتنا - Our Signs,| عجبا - a wonder?| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | کیا آپ نے یہ خیال کیا ہے کہ کہف و رقیم (یعنی غار اور لوحِ غار یا وادئ رقیم) والے ہماری (قدرت کی) نشانیوں میں سے (کتنی) عجیب نشانی تھے؟، |

[18:10] | Ith awa alfityatu ilaalkahfi faqaloo rabbana atina minladunka rahmatan wahayyi/ lana min amrinarashadan
| إذ أوى الفتية إلى الكهف فقالوا ربنا آتنا من لدنك رحمة وهيئ لنا من أمرنا رشدا
إِذْ أَوَى الْفِتْيَةُ إِلَى الْكَهْفِ فَقَالُوا رَبَّنَا آتِنَا مِن لَّدُنكَ رَحْمَةً وَهَيِّئْ لَنَا مِنْ أَمْرِنَا رَشَدًا |

| Yusuf Ali | Behold, the youths betook themselves to the Cave: they said, "Our Lord! bestow on us Mercy from Thyself, and dispose of our affair for us in the right way!"

| Words | |إذ - When| أوى - retreated| الفتية - the youths| إلى - to| الكهف - the cave,| فقالوا - and they said,| ربنا - "Our Lord!| آتنا - Grant us| من - from| لدنك - Yourself| رحمة - Mercy,| وهيئ - and facilitate| لنا - for us| من - [from]| أمرنا - our affair| رشدا - (in the) right way."| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | (وہ وقت یاد کیجئے) جب چند نوجوان غار میں پناہ گزیں ہوئے تو انہوں نے کہا: اے ہمارے رب! ہمیں اپنی بارگاہ سے رحمت عطا فرما اور ہمارے کام میں راہ یابی (کے اسباب) مہیا فرما، |

[18:11] | Fadarabna AAala athanihimfee alkahfi sineena AAadadan
| فضربنا على آذانهم في الكهف سنين عددا
فَضَرَبْنَا عَلَى آذَانِهِمْ فِي الْكَهْفِ سِنِينَ عَدَدًا |

| Yusuf Ali | Then We draw (a veil) over their ears, for a number of years, in the Cave, (so that they heard not):

| Words | |فضربنا - So We cast| على - over| آذانهم - their ears| في - in| الكهف - the cave| سنين - years -| عددا - a number.| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | پس ہم نے اس غار میں گنتی کے چند سال ان کے کانوں پر تھپکی دے کر (انہیں سلا دیا)، |

[18:12] | Thumma baAAathnahum linaAAlama ayyualhizbayni ahsa lima labithoo amadan
| ثم بعثناهم لنعلم أي الحزبين أحصى لما لبثوا أمدا
ثُمَّ بَعَثْنَاهُمْ لِنَعْلَمَ أَيُّ الْحِزْبَيْنِ أَحْصَى لِمَا لَبِثُوا أَمَدًا |

| Yusuf Ali | Then We roused them, in order to test which of the two parties was best at calculating the term of years they had tarried!
|
| Words | |ثم - Then| بعثناهم - We raised them up| لنعلم - that We make evident| أي - which| الحزبين - (of) the two parties| أحصى - best calculated| لما - for what| لبثوا - (they had) remained| أمدا - (in) time.| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | پھر ہم نے انہیں اٹھا دیا کہ دیکھیں دونوں گروہوں میں سے کون اس (مدّت) کو صحیح شمار کرنے والا ہے جو وہ (غار میں) ٹھہرے رہے، |

[18:13] | Nahnu naqussu AAalaykanabaahum bialhaqqi innahum fityatun amanoobirabbihim wazidnahum hudan
| نحن نقص عليك نبأهم بالحق إنهم فتية آمنوا بربهم وزدناهم هدى
نَحْنُ نَقُصُّ عَلَيْكَ نَبَأَهُم بِالْحَقِّ إِنَّهُمْ فِتْيَةٌ آمَنُوا بِرَبِّهِمْ وَزِدْنَاهُمْ هُدًى |

| Yusuf Ali | We relate to thee their story in truth: they were youths who believed in their Lord, and We advanced them in guidance:
|
| Words | |نحن - We| نقص - narrate| عليك - to you| نبأهم - their story| بالحق - in truth.| إنهم - Indeed, they (were)| فتية - youths| آمنوا - who believed| بربهم - in their Lord,| وزدناهم - and We increased them| هدى - (in) guidance.| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | (اب) ہم آپ کو ان کا حال صحیح صحیح سناتے ہیں، بیشک وہ (چند) نوجوان تھے جو اپنے رب پر ایمان لائے اور ہم نے ان کے لئے (نورِ) ہدایت میں اور اضافہ فرما دیا، |

[18:14] | Warabatna AAalaquloobihim ith qamoo faqaloo rabbunarabbu alssamawati waal-ardilan nadAAuwa min doonihi ilahan laqad qulna ithanshatatan
| وربطنا على قلوبهم إذ قاموا فقالوا ربنا رب السماوات والأرض لن ندعو من دونه إلها لقد قلنا إذا شططا
وَرَبَطْنَا عَلَى قُلُوبِهِمْ إِذْ قَامُوا فَقَالُوا رَبُّنَا رَبُّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ لَن نَّدْعُوَاْ مِن دُونِهِ إِلَهًا لَّقَدْ قُلْنَا إِذًا شَطَطًا |

| Yusuf Ali | We gave strength to their hearts: Behold, they stood up and said: "Our Lord is the Lord of the heavens and of the earth: never shall we call upon any god other than Him: if we did, we should indeed have uttered an enormity!

| Words | |وربطنا - And We made firm| على - [on]| قلوبهم - their hearts| إذ - when| قاموا - they stood up| فقالوا - and said,| ربنا - "Our Lord| رب - (is) the Lord| السماوات - (of) the heavens| والأرض - and the earth.| لن - Never| ندعو - we will invoke| من - besides Him| دونه - besides Him| إلها - any god.| لقد - Certainly,| قلنا - we would have said,| إذا - then,| شططا - an enormity.| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور ہم نے ان کے دلوں کو (اپنے ربط و نسبت سے) مضبوط و مستحکم فرما دیا، جب وہ (اپنے بادشاہ کے سامنے) کھڑے ہوئے تو کہنے لگے: ہمارا رب تو آسمانوں اور زمین کا رب ہے ہم اس کے سوا ہرگز کسی (جھوٹے) معبود کی پرستش نہیں کریں گے (اگر ایسا کریں تو) اس وقت ہم ضرور حق سے ہٹی ہوئی بات کریں گے، |

[18:15] | Haola-i qawmuna ittakhathoomin doonihi alihatan lawla ya/toona AAalayhim bisultaninbayyinin faman athlamu mimmani iftara AAalaAllahi kathiban
| هؤلاء قومنا اتخذوا من دونه آلهة لولا يأتون عليهم بسلطان بين فمن أظلم ممن افترى على الله كذبا
هَؤُلاَءِ قَوْمُنَا اتَّخَذُوا مِن دُونِهِ آلِهَةً لَّوْلاَ يَأْتُونَ عَلَيْهِم بِسُلْطَانٍ بَيِّنٍ فَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّنِ افْتَرَى عَلَى اللَّهِ كَذِبًا |

| Yusuf Ali | "These our people have taken for worship gods other than Him: why do they not bring forward an authority clear (and convincing) for what they do? Who doth more wrong than such as invent a falsehood against Allah?

| Words | |هؤلاء - These,| قومنا - our people,| اتخذوا - have taken| من - besides Him| دونه - besides Him| آلهة - gods.| لولا - Why not| يأتون - they come| عليهم - to them| بسلطان - with an authority| بين - clear?| فمن - And who| أظلم - (is) more wrong| ممن - than (one) who| افترى - invents| على - against| الله - Allah| كذبا - a lie?| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | یہ ہماری قوم کے لوگ ہیں جنہوں نے اس کے سوا کئی معبود بنا لئے ہیں، تو یہ ان (کے معبود ہونے) پر کوئی واضح سند کیوں نہیں لاتے؟ سو اُس سے بڑھ کر ظالم کون ہوگا جو اللہ پر جھوٹا بہتان باندھتا ہے، |

[18:16] | Wa-ithi iAAtazaltumoohum wamayaAAbudoona illa Allaha fa/woo ila alkahfiyanshur lakum rabbukum min rahmatihi wayuhayyi/ lakum minamrikum mirfaqan
| وإذ اعتزلتموهم وما يعبدون إلا الله فأووا إلى الكهف ينشر لكم ربكم من رحمته ويهيئ لكم من أمركم مرفقا
وَإِذِ اعْتَزَلْتُمُوهُمْ وَمَا يَعْبُدُونَ إِلاَّ اللَّهَ فَأْوُوا إِلَى الْكَهْفِ يَنشُرْ لَكُمْ رَبُّكُم مِّن رَّحْمَتِهِ ويُهَيِّئْ لَكُم مِّنْ أَمْرِكُم مِّرْفَقًا |

| Yusuf Ali | "When ye turn away from them and the things they worship other than Allah, betake yourselves to the Cave: Your Lord will shower His mercies on you and disposes of your affair towards comfort and ease."

| Words | |وإذ - And when| اعتزلتموهم - you withdraw from them| وما - and what| يعبدون - they worship| إلا - except| الله - Allah,| فأووا - then retreat| إلى - to| الكهف - the cave.| ينشر - Will spread| لكم - for you| ربكم - your Lord| من - of| رحمته - His Mercy| ويهيئ - and will facilitate| لكم - for you| من - [from]| أمركم - your affair| مرفقا - (in) ease."| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور (ان نوجوانوں نے آپس میں کہا:) جب تم ان سے اور ان (جھوٹے معبودوں) سے جنہیں یہ اﷲ کے سوا پوجتے ہیں کنارہ کش ہو گئے ہو تو تم (اس) غار میں پناہ لے لو، تمہارا رب تمہارے لئے اپنی رحمت کشادہ فرما دے گا اور تمہارے لئے تمہارے کام میں سہولت مہیا فرما دے گا، |

[18:17] | Watara alshshamsa itha talaAAattazawaru AAan kahfihim thata alyameeni wa-ithagharabat taqriduhum thata alshshimaliwahum fee fajwatin minhu thalika min ayatiAllahi man yahdi Allahu fahuwa almuhtadi waman yudlilfalan tajida lahu waliyyan murshidan
| وترى الشمس إذا طلعت تزاور عن كهفهم ذات اليمين وإذا غربت تقرضهم ذات الشمال وهم في فجوة منه ذلك من آيات الله من يهد الله فهو المهتد ومن يضلل فلن تجد له وليا مرشدا
وَتَرَى الشَّمْسَ إِذَا طَلَعَت تَّزَاوَرُ عَن كَهْفِهِمْ ذَاتَ الْيَمِينِ وَإِذَا غَرَبَت تَّقْرِضُهُمْ ذَاتَ الشِّمَالِ وَهُمْ فِي فَجْوَةٍ مِّنْهُ ذَلِكَ مِنْ آيَاتِ اللَّهِ مَن يَهْدِ اللَّهُ فَهُوَ الْمُهْتَدِ وَمَن يُضْلِلْ فَلَن تَجِدَ لَهُ وَلِيًّا مُّرْشِدًا |

| Yusuf Ali | Thou wouldst have seen the sun, when it rose, declining to the right from their Cave, and when it set, turning away from them to the left, while they lay in the open space in the midst of the Cave. Such are among the Signs of Allah: He whom Allah, guides is rightly guided; but he whom Allah leaves to stray,- for him wilt thou find no protector to lead him to the Right Way.

| Tahir ul Qadri | اور آپ دیکھتے ہیں جب سورج طلوع ہوتا ہے تو ان کے غار سے دائیں جانب ہٹ جاتا ہے اور جب غروب ہونے لگتا ہے تو ان سے بائیں جانب کترا جاتا ہے اور وہ اس غار کے کشادہ میدان میں (لیٹے) ہیں، یہ (سورج کا اپنے راستے کو بدل لینا) اﷲ کی (قدرت کی بڑی) نشانیوں میں سے ہے، جسے اﷲ ہدایت فرما دے سو وہی ہدایت یافتہ ہے، اور جسے وہ گمراہ ٹھہرا دے تو آپ اس کے لئے کوئی ولی مرشد (یعنی راہ دکھانے والا مددگار) نہیں پائیں گے، |

[18:18] | Watahsabuhum ayqathanwahum ruqoodun wanuqallibuhum thata alyameeni wathataalshshimali wakalbuhum basitun thiraAAayhibialwaseedi lawi ittalaAAta AAalayhimlawallayta minhum firaran walamuli/ta minhum ruAAban
| وتحسبهم أيقاظا وهم رقود ونقلبهم ذات اليمين وذات الشمال وكلبهم باسط ذراعيه بالوصيد لو اطلعت عليهم لوليت منهم فرارا ولملئت منهم رعبا
وَتَحْسَبُهُمْ أَيْقَاظًا وَهُمْ رُقُودٌ وَنُقَلِّبُهُمْ ذَاتَ الْيَمِينِ وَذَاتَ الشِّمَالِ وَكَلْبُهُم بَاسِطٌ ذِرَاعَيْهِ بِالْوَصِيدِ لَوِاطَّلَعْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ لَوَلَّيْتَ مِنْهُمْ فِرَارًا وَلَمُلِئْتَ مِنْهُمْ رُعْبًا |

| Yusuf Ali | Thou wouldst have deemed them awake, whilst they were asleep, and We turned them on their right and on their left sides: their dog stretching forth his two fore-legs on the threshold: if thou hadst come up on to them, thou wouldst have certainly turned back from them in flight, and wouldst certainly have been filled with terror of them.

[18:19] | Wakathalika baAAathnahumliyatasaaloo baynahum qala qa-ilun minhumkam labithtum qaloo labithna yawman aw baAAdayawmin qaloo rabbukum aAAlamu bima labithtum faibAAathooahadakum biwariqikum hathihi ila almadeenatifalyanthur ayyuha azka taAAamanfalya/tikum birizqin minhu walyatalattaf walayushAAiranna bikum ahadan
| وكذلك بعثناهم ليتساءلوا بينهم قال قائل منهم كم لبثتم قالوا لبثنا يوما أو بعض يوم قالوا ربكم أعلم بما لبثتم فابعثوا أحدكم بورقكم هذه إلى المدينة فلينظر أيها أزكى طعاما فليأتكم برزق منه وليتلطف ولا يشعرن بكم أحدا
وَكَذَلِكَ بَعَثْنَاهُمْ لِيَتَسَاءَلُوا بَيْنَهُمْ قَالَ قَائِلٌ مِّنْهُمْ كَمْ لَبِثْتُمْ قَالُوا لَبِثْنَا يَوْمًا أَوْ بَعْضَ يَوْمٍ قَالُوا رَبُّكُمْ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا لَبِثْتُمْ فَابْعَثُوا أَحَدَكُم بِوَرِقِكُمْ هَذِهِ إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ فَلْيَنظُرْ أَيُّهَا أَزْكَى طَعَامًا فَلْيَأْتِكُم بِرِزْقٍ مِّنْهُ وَلْيَتَلَطَّفْ وَلاَ يُشْعِرَنَّ بِكُمْ أَحَدًا |

| Yusuf Ali | Such (being their state), we raised them up (from sleep), that they might question each other. Said one of them, "How long have ye stayed (here)?" They said, "We have stayed (perhaps) a day, or part of a day." (At length) they (all) said, "Allah (alone) knows best how long ye have stayed here.... Now send ye then one of you with this money of yours to the town: let him find out which is the best food (to be had) and bring some to you, that (ye may) satisfy your hunger therewith: And let him behave with care and courtesy, and let him not inform any one about you.

| Tahir ul Qadri | اور اسی طرح ہم نے انہیں اٹھا دیا تاکہ وہ آپس میں دریافت کریں، (چنانچہ) ان میں سے ایک کہنے والے نے کہا: تم (یہاں) کتنا عرصہ ٹھہرے ہو؟ انہوں نے کہا: ہم (یہاں) ایک دن یا اس کا (بھی) کچھ حصہ ٹھہرے ہیں، (بالآخر) کہنے لگے: تمہارا رب ہی بہتر جانتا ہے کہ تم (یہاں) کتنا عرصہ ٹھہرے ہو، سو تم اپنے میں سے کسی ایک کو اپنا یہ سکہ دے کر شہر کی طرف بھیجو پھر وہ دیکھے کہ کون سا کھانا زیادہ حلال اور پاکیزہ ہے تو اس میں سے کچھ کھانا تمہارے پاس لے آئے اور اسے چاہئے کہ (آنے جانے اور خریدنے میں) آہستگی اور نرمی سے کام لے اور کسی ایک شخص کو (بھی) تمہاری خبر نہ ہونے دے، |

[18:20] | Innahum in yathharoo AAalaykumyarjumookum aw yuAAeedookum fee millatihim walan tuflihooithan abadan
| إنهم إن يظهروا عليكم يرجموكم أو يعيدوكم في ملتهم ولن تفلحوا إذا أبدا
إِنَّهُمْ إِن يَظْهَرُوا عَلَيْكُمْ يَرْجُمُوكُمْ أَوْ يُعِيدُوكُمْ فِي مِلَّتِهِمْ وَلَن تُفْلِحُوا إِذًا أَبَدًا |

| Yusuf Ali | "For if they should come upon you, they would stone you or force you to return to their cult, and in that case ye would never attain prosperity."

[18:21] | Wakathalika aAAtharnaAAalayhim liyaAAlamoo anna waAAda Allahi haqqunwaanna alsaAAata la rayba feeha ithyatanazaAAoona baynahum amrahum faqaloo ibnooAAalayhim bunyanan rabbuhum aAAlamu bihim qala allatheenaghalaboo AAala amrihim lanattakhithanna AAalayhimmasjidan
| وكذلك أعثرنا عليهم ليعلموا أن وعد الله حق وأن الساعة لا ريب فيها إذ يتنازعون بينهم أمرهم فقالوا ابنوا عليهم بنيانا ربهم أعلم بهم قال الذين غلبوا على أمرهم لنتخذن عليهم مسجدا
وَكَذَلِكَ أَعْثَرْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ لِيَعْلَمُوا أَنَّ وَعْدَ اللَّهِ حَقٌّ وَأَنَّ السَّاعَةَ لاَ رَيْبَ فِيهَا إِذْ يَتَنَازَعُونَ بَيْنَهُمْ أَمْرَهُمْ فَقَالُوا ابْنُوا عَلَيْهِم بُنْيَانًا رَّبُّهُمْ أَعْلَمُ بِهِمْ قَالَ الَّذِينَ غَلَبُوا عَلَى أَمْرِهِمْ لَنَتَّخِذَنَّ عَلَيْهِم مَّسْجِدًا |

| Yusuf Ali | Thus did We make their case known to the people, that they might know that the promise of Allah is true, and that there can be no doubt about the Hour of Judgment. Behold, they dispute among themselves as to their affair. (Some) said, "Construct a building over them": Their Lord knows best about them: those who prevailed over their affair said, "Let us surely build a place of worship over them."

| Tahir ul Qadri | اور اس طرح ہم نے ان (کے حال) پر ان لوگوں کو (جو چند صدیاں بعد کے تھے) مطلع کردیا تاکہ وہ جان لیں کہ اﷲ کا وعدہ سچا ہے اور یہ (بھی) کہ قیامت کے آنے میں کوئی شک نہیں ہے۔ جب وہ (بستی والے) آپس میں ان کے معاملہ میں جھگڑا کرنے لگے (جب اصحابِ کہف وفات پاگئے) تو انہوں نے کہا کہ ان (کے غار) پر ایک عمارت (بطور یادگار) بنا دو، ان کا رب ان (کے حال) سے خوب واقف ہے، ان (ایمان والوں) نے کہا جنہیں ان کے معاملہ پر غلبہ حاصل تھا کہ ہم ان (کے دروازہ) پر ضرور ایک مسجد بنائیں گے (تاکہ مسلمان اس میں نماز پڑھیں اور ان کی قربت سے خصوصی برکت حاصل کریں)، |

[18:22] | Sayaqooloona thalathatun rabiAAuhumkalbuhum wayaqooloona khamsatun sadisuhum kalbuhum rajmanbialghaybi wayaqooloona sabAAatun wathaminuhumkalbuhum qul rabbee aAAlamu biAAiddatihim ma yaAAlamuhumilla qaleelun fala tumari feehim illamiraan thahiran wala tastaftifeehim minhum ahadan
| سيقولون ثلاثة رابعهم كلبهم ويقولون خمسة سادسهم كلبهم رجما بالغيب ويقولون سبعة وثامنهم كلبهم قل ربي أعلم بعدتهم ما يعلمهم إلا قليل فلا تمار فيهم إلا مراء ظاهرا ولا تستفت فيهم منهم أحدا
سَيَقُولُونَ ثَلاَثَةٌ رَّابِعُهُمْ كَلْبُهُمْ وَيَقُولُونَ خَمْسَةٌ سَادِسُهُمْ كَلْبُهُمْ رَجْمًا بِالْغَيْبِ وَيَقُولُونَ سَبْعَةٌ وَثَامِنُهُمْ كَلْبُهُمْ قُل رَّبِّي أَعْلَمُ بِعِدَّتِهِم مَّا يَعْلَمُهُمْ إِلاَّ قَلِيلٌ فَلاَ تُمَارِ فِيهِمْ إِلاَّ مِرَاءً ظَاهِرًا وَلاَ تَسْتَفْتِ فِيهِم مِّنْهُمْ أَحَدًا |

| Yusuf Ali | (Some) say they were three, the dog being the fourth among them; (others) say they were five, the dog being the sixth,- doubtfully guessing at the unknown; (yet others) say they were seven, the dog being the eighth. Say thou: "My Lord knoweth best their number; It is but few that know their (real case)." Enter not, therefore, into controversies concerning them, except on a matter that is clear, nor consult any of them about (the affair of) the Sleepers.

| Tahir ul Qadri | (اب) کچھ لوگ کہیں گے: (اصحابِ کہف) تین تھے ان میں سے چوتھا ان کا کتا تھا، اور بعض کہیں گے: پانچ تھے ان میں سے چھٹا ان کا کتا تھا، یہ بِن دیکھے اندازے ہیں، اور بعض کہیں گے: (وہ) سات تھے اور ان میں سے آٹھواں ان کا کتا تھا۔ فرما دیجئے: میرا رب ہی ان کی تعداد کو خوب جانتا ہے اور سوائے چند لوگوں کے ان (کی صحیح تعداد) کا علم کسی کو نہیں، سو آپ کسی سے ان کے بارے میں بحث نہ کیا کریں سوائے اس قدر وضاحت کے جو ظاہر ہو چکی ہے اور نہ ان میں سے کسی سے ان (اصحابِ کہف) کے بارے میں کچھ دریافت کریں، |

| ولا تقولن لشيء إني فاعل ذلك غدا
وَلاَ تَقُولَنَّ لِشَيْءٍ إِنِّي فَاعِلٌ ذَلِكَ غَدًا |

| إلا أن يشاء الله واذكر ربك إذا نسيت وقل عسى أن يهدين ربي لأقرب من هذا رشدا
إِلاَّ أَن يَشَاءَ اللَّهُ وَاذْكُر رَّبَّكَ إِذَا نَسِيتَ وَقُلْ عَسَى أَن يَهْدِيَنِ رَبِّي لِأَقْرَبَ مِنْ هَذَا رَشَدًا |

| Yusuf Ali | Without adding, "So please Allah!" and call thy Lord to mind when thou forgettest, and say, "I hope that my Lord will guide me ever closer (even) than this to the right road."

| ولبثوا في كهفهم ثلاث مائة سنين وازدادوا تسعا
وَلَبِثُوا فِي كَهْفِهِمْ ثَلاَثَ مِائَةٍ سِنِينَ وَازْدَادُوا تِسْعًا |

| قل الله أعلم بما لبثوا له غيب السماوات والأرض أبصر به وأسمع ما لهم من دونه من ولي ولا يشرك في حكمه أحدا
قُلِ اللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا لَبِثُوا لَهُ غَيْبُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ أَبْصِرْ بِهِ وَأَسْمِعْ مَا لَهُم مِّن دُونِهِ مِن وَلِيٍّ وَلاَ يُشْرِكُ فِي حُكْمِهِ أَحَدًا |

| Yusuf Ali | Say: "Allah knows best how long they stayed: with Him is (the knowledge of) the secrets of the heavens and the earth: how clearly He sees, how finely He hears (everything)! They have no protector other than Him; nor does He share His Command with any person whatsoever.

[18:27] | Waotlu ma oohiya ilaykamin kitabi rabbika la mubaddila likalimatihiwalan tajida min doonihi multahadan
| واتل ما أوحي إليك من كتاب ربك لا مبدل لكلماته ولن تجد من دونه ملتحدا
وَاتْلُ مَا أُوحِيَ إِلَيْكَ مِن كِتَابِ رَبِّكَ لاَ مُبَدِّلَ لِكَلِمَاتِهِ وَلَن تَجِدَ مِن دُونِهِ مُلْتَحَدًا |

| Yusuf Ali | And recite (and teach) what has been revealed to thee of the Book of thy Lord: none can change His Words, and none wilt thou find as a refuge other than Him.

[18:28] | Waisbir nafsaka maAAa allatheenayadAAoona rabbahum bialghadati waalAAashiyyiyureedoona wajhahu wala taAAdu AAaynaka AAanhumtureedu zeenata alhayati alddunya walatutiAA man aghfalna qalbahu AAan thikrinawaittabaAAa hawahu wakana amruhu furutan
| واصبر نفسك مع الذين يدعون ربهم بالغداة والعشي يريدون وجهه ولا تعد عيناك عنهم تريد زينة الحياة الدنيا ولا تطع من أغفلنا قلبه عن ذكرنا واتبع هواه وكان أمره فرطا
وَاصْبِرْ نَفْسَكَ مَعَ الَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ رَبَّهُم بِالْغَدَاةِ وَالْعَشِيِّ يُرِيدُونَ وَجْهَهُ وَلاَ تَعْدُ عَيْنَاكَ عَنْهُمْ تُرِيدُ زِينَةَ الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا وَلاَ تُطِعْ مَنْ أَغْفَلْنَا قَلْبَهُ عَن ذِكْرِنَا وَاتَّبَعَ هَوَاهُ وَكَانَ أَمْرُهُ فُرُطًا |

| Yusuf Ali | And keep thy soul content with those who call on their Lord morning and evening, seeking His Face; and let not thine eyes pass beyond them, seeking the pomp and glitter of this Life; no obey any whose heart We have permitted to neglect the remembrance of Us, one who follows his own desires, whose case has gone beyond all bounds.

| Tahir ul Qadri | (اے میرے بندے!) تو اپنے آپ کو ان لوگوں کی سنگت میں جمائے رکھا کر جو صبح و شام اپنے رب کو یاد کرتے ہیں اس کی رضا کے طلب گار رہتے ہیں (اس کی دید کے متمنی اور اس کا مکھڑا تکنے کے آرزو مند ہیں) تیری (محبت اور توجہ کی) نگاہیں ان سے نہ ہٹیں، کیا تو (ان فقیروں سے دھیان ہٹا کر) دنیوی زندگی کی آرائش چاہتا ہے، اور تو اس شخص کی اطاعت (بھی) نہ کر جس کے دل کو ہم نے اپنے ذکر سے غافل کردیا ہے اور وہ اپنی ہوائے نفس کی پیروی کرتا ہے اور اس کا حال حد سے گزر گیا ہے، |

[18:29] | Waquli alhaqqu min rabbikum faman shaafalyu/min waman shaa falyakfur inna aAAtadnalilththalimeena naran ahatabihim suradiquha wa-in yastagheethoo yughathoobima-in kaalmuhli yashwee alwujooha bi/sa alshsharabuwasaat murtafaqan
| وقل الحق من ربكم فمن شاء فليؤمن ومن شاء فليكفر إنا أعتدنا للظالمين نارا أحاط بهم سرادقها وإن يستغيثوا يغاثوا بماء كالمهل يشوي الوجوه بئس الشراب وساءت مرتفقا
وَقُلِ الْحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّكُمْ فَمَن شَاءَ فَلْيُؤْمِن وَمَن شَاءَ فَلْيَكْفُرْ إِنَّا أَعْتَدْنَا لِلظَّالِمِينَ نَارًا أَحَاطَ بِهِمْ سُرَادِقُهَا وَإِن يَسْتَغِيثُوا يُغَاثُوا بِمَاءٍ كَالْمُهْلِ يَشْوِي الْوُجُوهَ بِئْسَ الشَّرَابُ وَسَاءَتْ مُرْتَفَقًا |

| Yusuf Ali | Say, "The truth is from your Lord": Let him who will believe, and let him who will, reject (it): for the wrong-doers We have prepared a Fire whose (smoke and flames), like the walls and roof of a tent, will hem them in: if they implore relief they will be granted water like melted brass, that will scald their faces, how dreadful the drink! How uncomfortable a couch to recline on!

| Words | |وقل - And say,| الحق - "The truth| من - (is) from| ربكم - your Lord,| فمن - so whoever| شاء - wills -| فليؤمن - let him believe| ومن - and whoever| شاء - wills -| فليكفر - let him disbelieve."| إنا - Indeed, We| أعتدنا - have prepared| للظالمين - for the wrongdoers| نارا - a Fire,| أحاط - will surround| بهم - them| سرادقها - its walls.| وإن - And if| يستغيثوا - they call for relief,| يغاثوا - they will be relieved| بماء - with water| كالمهل - like molten brass,| يشوي - (which) scalds| الوجوه - the faces.| بئس - Wretched| الشراب - (is) the drink,| وساءت - and evil| مرتفقا - (is) the resting place.| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور فرما دیجئے کہ (یہ) حق تمہارے رب کی طرف سے ہے، پس جو چاہے ایمان لے آئے اور جو چاہے انکار کردے، بیشک ہم نے ظالموں کے لئے (دوزخ کی) آگ تیار کر رکھی ہے جس کی دیواریں انہیں گھیر لیں گی، اور اگر وہ (پیاس اور تکلیف کے باعث) فریاد کریں گے تو ان کی فریاد رسی ایسے پانی سے کی جائے گی جو پگھلے ہوئے تانبے کی طرح ہوگا جو ان کے چہروں کو بھون دے گا، کتنا برا مشروب ہے، اور کتنی بری آرام گاہ ہے، |

| إن الذين آمنوا وعملوا الصالحات إنا لا نضيع أجر من أحسن عملا
إِنَّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ إِنَّا لاَ نُضِيعُ أَجْرَ مَنْ أَحْسَنَ عَمَلاً |

| Yusuf Ali | As to those who believe and work righteousness, verily We shall not suffer to perish the reward of any who do a (single) righteous deed.
