لَعَلَّكَ بَاخِعٌ نَّفْسَكَ أَلَّا يَكُونُوا مُؤْمِنِينَ |

| Yusuf Ali | It may be thou frettest thy soul with grief, that they do not become Believers.

[26:4] | In nasha/ nunazzil AAalayhim mina alssama-iayatan fathallat aAAnaquhum lahakhadiAAeena
| إن نشأ ننزل عليهم من السماء آية فظلت أعناقهم لها خاضعين
إِن نَّشَأْ نُنَزِّلْ عَلَيْهِم مِّن السَّمَاءِ آيَةً فَظَلَّتْ أَعْنَاقُهُمْ لَهَا خَاضِعِينَ |

| Yusuf Ali | If (such) were Our Will, We could send down to them from the sky a Sign, to which they would bend their necks in humility.

| وما يأتيهم من ذكر من الرحمن محدث إلا كانوا عنه معرضين
وَمَا يَأْتِيهِم مِّن ذِكْرٍ مِّنَ الرَّحْمَنِ مُحْدَثٍ إِلَّا كَانُوا عَنْهُ مُعْرِضِينَ |

| Yusuf Ali | But there comes not to them a newly-revealed Message from (Allah) Most Gracious, but they turn away therefrom.

[26:6] | Faqad kaththaboo fasaya/teehim anbaoma kanoo bihi yastahzi-oona
| فقد كذبوا فسيأتيهم أنباء ما كانوا به يستهزئون
فَقَدْ كَذَّبُوا فَسَيَأْتِيهِمْ أَنبَاءُ مَا كَانُوا بِهِ يَسْتَهْزِئُون |

| Yusuf Ali | They have indeed rejected (the Message): so they will know soon (enough) the truth of what they mocked at!

| Words | |فقد - So verily,| كذبوا - they have denied,| فسيأتيهم - then will come to them| أنباء - the news| ما - (of) what| كانوا - they used| به - at it| يستهزئون - (to) mock.| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | سو بیشک وہ (حق کو) جھٹلا چکے پس عنقریب انہیں اس امر کی خبریں پہنچ جائیں گی جس کا وہ مذاق اڑایا کرتے تھے، |

[26:7] | Awa lam yaraw ila al-ardi kamanbatna feeha min kulli zawjin kareemin
| أولم يروا إلى الأرض كم أنبتنا فيها من كل زوج كريم
أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا إِلَى الْأَرْضِ كَمْ أَنبَتْنَا فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ زَوْجٍ كَرِيمٍ |

| Yusuf Ali | Do they not look at the earth,- how many noble things of all kinds We have produced therein?

| Words | |أولم - Do not| يروا - they see| إلى - at| الأرض - the earth -| كم - how many| أنبتنا - We produced| فيها - in it| من - of| كل - every| زوج - kind| كريم - noble.| |

| إن في ذلك لآية وما كان أكثرهم مؤمنين
إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَآيَةً وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ |

| Yusuf Ali | Verily, in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe.

| Words | |إن - Indeed,| في - in| ذلك - that| لآية - surely (is) a sign,| وما - but not| كان - are| أكثرهم - most of them| مؤمنين - believers.| |

[26:9] | Wa-inna rabbaka lahuwa alAAazeezu alrraheemu
| وإن ربك لهو العزيز الرحيم
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ |

| Yusuf Ali | And verily, thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful.

| وإذ نادى ربك موسى أن ائت القوم الظالمين
وَإِذْ نَادَى رَبُّكَ مُوسَى أَنِ ائْتِ الْقَوْمَ الظَّالِمِينَ |

| Yusuf Ali | Behold, thy Lord called Moses: "Go to the people of iniquity,-

| قوم فرعون ألا يتقون
قَوْمَ فِرْعَوْنَ أَلَا يَتَّقُونَ |

| Yusuf Ali | "The people of the Pharaoh: will they not fear Allah?"

| Words | |قوم - (The) people| فرعون - (of) Firaun.| ألا - Will not| يتقون - they fear?"| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | (یعنی) قومِ فرعون کے پاس، کیا وہ (اللہ سے) نہیں ڈرتے، |

[26:12] | Qala rabbi innee akhafu anyukaththibooni
| قال رب إني أخاف أن يكذبون
قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّي أَخَافُ أَن يُكَذِّبُونِ |

| Yusuf Ali | He said: "O my Lord! I do fear that they will charge me with falsehood:

| Words | |قال - He said,| رب - "My Lord!| إني - Indeed, I| أخاف - [I] fear| أن - that| يكذبون - they will deny me.| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | موسٰی (علیہ السلام) نے عرض کیا: اے رب! میں ڈرتا ہوں کہ وہ مجھے جھٹلا دیں گے، |

[26:13] | Wayadeequ sadree walayantaliqu lisanee faarsil ila haroona
| ويضيق صدري ولا ينطلق لساني فأرسل إلى هارون
وَيَضِيقُ صَدْرِي وَلَا يَنطَلِقُ لِسَانِي فَأَرْسِلْ إِلَى هَارُونَ |

| Yusuf Ali | "My breast will be straitened. And my speech may not go (smoothly): so send unto Aaron.
|
| Words | |ويضيق - And straitens| صدري - my breast| ولا - and not| ينطلق - expresses well| لساني - my tongue,| فأرسل - so send| إلى - for| هارون - Harun.| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور (ایسے ناسازگار ماحول میں) میرا سینہ تنگ ہوجاتا ہے اور میری زبان (روانی سے) نہیں چلتی سو ہارون (علیہ السلام) کی طرف (بھی جبرائیل علیہ السلام کو وحی کے ساتھ) بھیج دے (تاکہ وہ میرا معاون بن جائے)، |

[26:14] | Walahum AAalayya thanbun faakhafuan yaqtulooni
| ولهم علي ذنب فأخاف أن يقتلون
وَلَهُمْ عَلَيَّ ذَنبٌ فَأَخَافُ أَن يَقْتُلُونِ |

| Yusuf Ali | "And (further), they have a charge of crime against me; and I fear they may slay me."
|
| Words | |ولهم - And they have| علي - against me| ذنب - a crime,| فأخاف - so I fear| أن - that| يقتلون - they will kill me."| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور ان کا میرے اوپر (قبطی کو مار ڈالنے کا) ایک الزام بھی ہے سو میں ڈرتا ہوں کہ وہ مجھے قتل کر ڈالیں گے، |

[26:15] | Qala kalla faithhababi-ayatina inna maAAakum mustamiAAoona
| قال كلا فاذهبا بآياتنا إنا معكم مستمعون
قَالَ كَلَّا فَاذْهَبَا بِآيَاتِنَا إِنَّا مَعَكُم مُّسْتَمِعُونَ |

| Yusuf Ali | Allah said: "By no means! proceed then, both of you, with Our Signs; We are with you, and will listen (to your call).
|
| Words | |قال - He said,| كلا - "Nay,| فاذهبا - go both of you| بآياتنا - with Our Signs.| إنا - Indeed, We| معكم - (are) with you,| مستمعون - listening.| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | ارشاد ہوا: ہرگز نہیں، پس تم دونوں ہماری نشانیاں لے کر جاؤ بیشک ہم تمہارے ساتھ (ہر بات) سننے والے ہیں، |

[26:16] | Fa/tiya firAAawna faqoola innarasoolu rabbi alAAalameena
| فأتيا فرعون فقولا إنا رسول رب العالمين
فَأْتِيَا فِرْعَوْنَ فَقُولَا إِنَّا رَسُولُ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ |

| Yusuf Ali | "So go forth, both of you, to Pharaoh, and say: 'We have been sent by the Lord and Cherisher of the worlds;
|
| Words | |فأتيا - So go both of you| فرعون - (to) Firaun| فقولا - and say,| إنا - 'Indeed, we| رسول - (are the) Messenger| رب - (of the) Lord| العالمين - (of) the worlds| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | پس تم دونوں فرعون کے پاس جاؤ اور کہو: ہم سارے جہانوں کے پروردگار کے (بھیجے ہوئے) رسول ہیں، |

[26:17] | An arsil maAAana banee isra-eela
| أن أرسل معنا بني إسرائيل
أَنْ أَرْسِلْ مَعَنَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ |

| Yusuf Ali | "'Send thou with us the Children of Israel.'"

| Words | |أن - [That]| أرسل - send| معنا - with us| بني - (the) Children of Israel.'"| إسرائيل - (the) Children of Israel.'"| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | (ہمارا مدعا یہ ہے) کہ تو بنی اسرائیل کو (آزادی دے کر) ہمارے ساتھ بھیج دے، |

[26:18] | Qala alam nurabbika feenawaleedan walabithta feena min AAumurika sineena
| قال ألم نربك فينا وليدا ولبثت فينا من عمرك سنين
قَالَ أَلَمْ نُرَبِّكَ فِينَا وَلِيدًا وَلَبِثْتَ فِينَا مِنْ عُمُرِكَ سِنِينَ |

| Yusuf Ali | (Pharaoh) said: "Did we not cherish thee as a child among us, and didst thou not stay in our midst many years of thy life?
|
| Words | |قال - He said,| ألم - "Did not| نربك - we bring you up| فينا - among us| وليدا - (as) a child,| ولبثت - and you remained| فينا - among us| من - of| عمرك - your life| سنين - years?| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | (فرعون نے) کہا: کیا ہم نے تمہیں اپنے یہاں بچپن کی حالت میں پالا نہیں تھا اور تم نے اپنی عمر کے کتنے ہی سال ہمارے اندر بسر کئے تھے، |

[26:19] | WafaAAalta faAAlataka allatee faAAaltawaanta mina alkafireena
| وفعلت فعلتك التي فعلت وأنت من الكافرين
وَفَعَلْتَ فَعْلَتَكَ الَّتِي فَعَلْتَ وَأَنتَ مِنَ الْكَافِرِينَ |

| Yusuf Ali | "And thou didst a deed of thine which (thou knowest) thou didst, and thou art an ungrateful (wretch)!"
|
| Words | |وفعلت - And you did| فعلتك - your deed| التي - which| فعلت - you did,| وأنت - and you| من - (were) of| الكافرين - the ungrateful."| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور (پھر) تم نے اپنا وہ کام کر ڈالا جو تم نے کیا تھا (یعنی ایک قبطی کو قتل کر دیا) اور تم ناشکر گزاروں میں سے ہو (ہماری پرورش اور احسانات کو بھول گئے ہو)، |

[26:20] | Qala faAAaltuha ithanwaana mina alddalleena
| قال فعلتها إذا وأنا من الضالين
قَالَ فَعَلْتُهَا إِذًا وَأَنَا مِنَ الضَّالِّينَ |

| Yusuf Ali | Moses said: "I did it then, when I was in error.
|
| Words | |قال - He said,| فعلتها - "I did it| إذا - when| وأنا - I| من - (was) of| الضالين - those who are astray.| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | (موسٰی علیہ السلام نے) فرمایا: جب میں نے وہ کام کیا میں بے خبر تھا (کہ کیا ایک گھونسے سے اس کی موت بھی واقع ہو سکتی ہے)، |

[26:21] | Fafarartu minkum lamma khiftukumfawahaba lee rabbee hukman wajaAAalanee mina almursaleena
| ففررت منكم لما خفتكم فوهب لي ربي حكما وجعلني من المرسلين
فَفَرَرْتُ مِنكُمْ لَمَّا خِفْتُكُمْ فَوَهَبَ لِي رَبِّي حُكْمًا وَجَعَلَنِي مِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ |

| Yusuf Ali | "So I fled from you (all) when I feared you; but my Lord has (since) invested me with judgment (and wisdom) and appointed me as one of the messengers.
|
| Words | |ففررت - So I fled| منكم - from you| لما - when| خفتكم - I feared you.| فوهب - But granted| لي - to me| ربي - my Lord,| حكما - judgment| وجعلني - and made me| من - of| المرسلين - the Messengers.| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | پھر میں (اس وقت) تمہارے (دائرہ اختیار) سے نکل گیا جب میں تمہارے (ارادوں) سے خوفزدہ ہوا پھر میرے رب نے مجھے حکمِ (نبوت) بخشا اور (بالآخر) مجھے رسولوں میں شامل فرما دیا، |

[26:22] | Watilka niAAmatun tamunnuha AAalayyaan AAabbadta banee isra-eela
| وتلك نعمة تمنها علي أن عبدت بني إسرائيل
وَتِلْكَ نِعْمَةٌ تَمُنُّهَا عَلَيَّ أَنْ عَبَّدتَّ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ |

| Yusuf Ali | "And this is the favour with which thou dost reproach me,- that thou hast enslaved the Children of Israel!"
|
| Words | |وتلك - And this| نعمة - (is the) favor| تمنها - with which you reproach| علي - [on] me,| أن - that| عبدت - you have enslaved| بني - (the) Children of Israel."| إسرائيل - (the) Children of Israel."| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور کیا وہ (کوئی) بھلائی ہے جس کا تو مجھ پر احسان جتا رہا ہے (اس کا سبب بھی یہ تھا) کہ تو نے (میری پوری قوم) بنی اسرائیل کو غلام بنا رکھا تھا، |

[26:23] | Qala firAAawnu wama rabbu alAAalameena
| قال فرعون وما رب العالمين
قَالَ فِرْعَوْنُ وَمَا رَبُّ الْعَالَمِينَ |

| Yusuf Ali | Pharaoh said: "And what is the 'Lord and Cherisher of the worlds'?"

| Words | |قال - Firaun said| فرعون - Firaun said| وما - "And what| رب - (is the) Lord| العالمين - (of) the worlds?"| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | فرعون نے کہا: سارے جہانوں کا پروردگار کیا چیز ہے، |

[26:24] | Qala rabbu alssamawatiwaal-ardi wama baynahuma in kuntummooqineena
| قال رب السماوات والأرض وما بينهما إن كنتم موقنين
قَالَ رَبُّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا إن كُنتُم مُّوقِنِينَ |

| Yusuf Ali | (Moses) said: "The Lord and Cherisher of the heavens and the earth, and all between,- if ye want to be quite sure."

| Words | |قال - He said,| رب - "Lord| السماوات - (of) the heavens| والأرض - and the earth| وما - and whatever| بينهما - (is) between them,| إن - if| كنتم - you (should) be| موقنين - convinced."| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | (موسٰی علیہ السلام نے) فرمایا: (وہ) جملہ آسمانوں کا اور زمین کا اور اُس (ساری کائنات) کا رب ہے جو ان دونوں کے درمیان ہے اگر تم یقین کرنے والے ہو، |

[26:25] | Qala liman hawlahu alatastamiAAoona
| قال لمن حوله ألا تستمعون
قَالَ لِمَنْ حَوْلَهُ أَلَا تَسْتَمِعُونَ |

| Yusuf Ali | (Pharaoh) said to those around: "Did ye not listen (to what he says)?"

| Words | |قال - He said| لمن - to those| حوله - around him,| ألا - "Do not| تستمعون - you hear?"| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | اس نے ان (لوگوں) سے کہا جو اس کے گرد (بیٹھے) تھے: کیا تم سن نہیں رہے ہو، |

[26:26] | Qala rabbukum warabbu aba-ikumual-awwaleena
| قال ربكم ورب آبائكم الأولين
قَالَ رَبُّكُمْ وَرَبُّ آبَائِكُمُ الْأَوَّلِينَ |

| Yusuf Ali | (Moses) said: "Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers from the beginning!"
|
| Words | |قال - He said,| ربكم - "Your Lord| ورب - and (the) Lord| آبائكم - (of) your forefathers."| الأولين - (of) your forefathers."| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | (موسٰی علیہ السلام نے مزید) کہا کہ (وہی) تمہارا (بھی) رب ہے اور تمہارے اگلے باپ دادوں کا (بھی) رب ہے، |

[26:27] | Qala inna rasoolakumu allatheeorsila ilaykum lamajnoonun
| قال إن رسولكم الذي أرسل إليكم لمجنون
قَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَكُمُ الَّذِي أُرْسِلَ إِلَيْكُمْ لَمَجْنُونٌ |

| Yusuf Ali | (Pharaoh) said: "Truly your messenger who has been sent to you is a veritable madman!"
|
| Words | |قال - He said,| إن - "Indeed,| رسولكم - your Messenger| الذي - who| أرسل - has been sent| إليكم - to you| لمجنون - (is) surely mad."| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | (فرعون نے) کہا: بیشک تمہارا رسول جو تمہاری طرف بھیجا گیا ہے ضرور دیوانہ ہے، |

[26:28] | Qala rabbu almashriqi waalmaghribiwama baynahuma in kuntum taAAqiloona
| قال رب المشرق والمغرب وما بينهما إن كنتم تعقلون
قَالَ رَبُّ الْمَشْرِقِ وَالْمَغْرِبِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ |

| Yusuf Ali | (Moses) said: "Lord of the East and the West, and all between! if ye only had sense!"
|
| Words | |قال - He said,| رب - "Lord| المشرق - (of) the east| والمغرب - and the west| وما - and whatever| بينهما - (is) between them,| إن - if| كنتم - you were| تعقلون - (to) reason."| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | (موسٰی علیہ السلام نے) کہا: (وہ) مشرق اور مغرب اور اس (ساری کائنات) کا رب ہے جو ان دونوں کے درمیان ہے اگر تم (کچھ) عقل رکھتے ہو، |

[26:29] | Qala la-ini ittakhathta ilahanghayree laajAAalannaka mina almasjooneena
| قال لئن اتخذت إلها غيري لأجعلنك من المسجونين
قَالَ لَئِنِ اتَّخَذْتَ إِلَهًا غَيْرِي لَأَجْعَلَنَّكَ مِنَ الْمَسْجُونِينَ |

| Yusuf Ali | (Pharaoh) said: "If thou dost put forward any god other than me, I will certainly put thee in prison!"
|
| Words | |قال - He said,| لئن - "If| اتخذت - you take| إلها - a god| غيري - other than me,| لأجعلنك - I will surely make you| من - among| المسجونين - those imprisoned."| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | (فرعون نے) کہا: (اے موسٰی!) اگر تم نے میرے سوا کسی اور کو معبود بنایا تو میں تم کو ضرور (گرفتار کر کے) قیدیوں میں شامل کر دوں گا، |

[26:30] | Qala awa law ji/tuka bishay-in mubeenin
| قال أولو جئتك بشيء مبين
قَالَ أَوَلَوْ جِئْتُكَ بِشَيْءٍ مُّبِينٍ |

| Yusuf Ali | (Moses) said: "Even if I showed you something clear (and) convincing?"
