[6:1] | Alhamdu lillahi allatheekhalaqa alssamawati waal-ardawajaAAala alththulumati waalnnoorathumma allatheena kafaroo birabbihim yaAAdiloona
|  الحمد لله الذي خلق السماوات والأرض وجعل الظلمات والنور ثم الذين كفروا بربهم يعدلون
الْحَمْدُ لِلّهِ الَّذِي خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضَ وَجَعَلَ الظُّلُمَاتِ وَالنُّورَ ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ بِرَبِّهِم يَعْدِلُونَ |

| Yusuf Ali | Praise be Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth, and made the darkness and the light. Yet those who reject Faith hold (others) as equal, with their Guardian-Lord.

| Tahir ul Qadri | تمام تعریفیں اﷲ ہی کے لئے ہیں جس نے آسمانوں اور زمین کو پیدا فرمایا اور تاریکیوں اور روشنی کو بنایا، پھر بھی کافر لوگ (معبودانِ باطلہ کو) اپنے رب کے برابر ٹھہراتے ہیں، |

[6:2] | Huwa allathee khalaqakum min teeninthumma qada ajalan waajalun musamman AAindahu thumma antumtamtaroona
| هو الذي خلقكم من طين ثم قضى أجلا وأجل مسمى عنده ثم أنتم تمترون
هُوَ الَّذِي خَلَقَكُم مِّن طِينٍ ثُمَّ قَضَى أَجَلاً وَأَجَلٌ مُّسمًّى عِندَهُ ثُمَّ أَنتُمْ تَمْتَرُونَ |

| Yusuf Ali | He it is created you from clay, and then decreed a stated term (for you). And there is in His presence another determined term; yet ye doubt within yourselves!

| Words | |هو - He| الذي - (is) the One Who| خلقكم - created you| من - from| طين - clay| ثم - then| قضى - He decreed| أجلا - a term -| وأجل - and a term| مسمى - specified| عنده - with Him,| ثم - yet| أنتم - you| تمترون - doubt.| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | (اﷲ) وہی ہے جس نے تمہیں مٹی کے گارے سے پیدا فرمایا (یعنی کرّۂ اَرضی پر حیاتِ انسانی کی کیمیائی ابتداء اس سے کی)۔ پھر اس نے (تمہاری موت کی) میعاد مقرر فرما دی، اور (انعقادِ قیامت کا) معیّنہ وقت اسی کے پاس (مقرر) ہے پھر (بھی) تم شک کرتے ہو، |

[6:3] | Wahuwa Allahu fee alssamawatiwafee al-ardi yaAAlamu sirrakum wajahrakum wayaAAlamu mataksiboona
| وهو الله في السماوات وفي الأرض يعلم سركم وجهركم ويعلم ما تكسبون
وَهُوَ اللّهُ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَفِي الْأَرْضِ يَعْلَمُ سِرَّكُمْ وَجَهْرَكُمْ وَيَعْلَمُ مَا تَكْسِبُونَ |

| Yusuf Ali | And He is Allah in the heavens and on earth. He knoweth what ye hide, and what ye reveal, and He knoweth the (recompense) which ye earn (by your deeds).

| Tahir ul Qadri | اور آسمانوں میں اور زمین میں وہی اﷲ ہی (معبودِ برحق) ہے، جو تمہاری پوشیدہ اور تمہاری ظاہر(سب باتوں) کو جانتا ہے اور جو کچھ تم کما رہے ہو وہ (اسے بھی) جانتا ہے، |

[6:4] | Wama ta/teehim min ayatin min ayatirabbihim illa kanoo AAanha muAArideena
| وما تأتيهم من آية من آيات ربهم إلا كانوا عنها معرضين
وَمَا تَأْتِيهِم مِّنْ آيَةٍ مِّنْ آيَاتِ رَبِّهِمْ إِلاَّ كَانُواْ عَنْهَا مُعْرِضِينَ |

| Yusuf Ali | But never did a single one of the signs of their Lord reach them, but they turned away therefrom.
|
| Words | |وما - And not| تأتيهم - comes to them| من - [of]| آية - any sign| من - from| آيات - (the) Signs| ربهم - (of) their Lord| إلا - but| كانوا - they are| عنها - from it| معرضين - turning away.| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور ان کے رب کی نشانیوں میں سے ان کے پاس کوئی نشانی نہیں آتی مگر (یہ کہ) وہ اس سے روگردانی کرتے ہیں، |

[6:5] | Faqad kaththaboo bialhaqqilamma jaahum fasawfa ya/teehim anbao makanoo bihi yastahzi-oona
| فقد كذبوا بالحق لما جاءهم فسوف يأتيهم أنباء ما كانوا به يستهزئون
فَقَدْ كَذَّبُواْ بِالْحَقِّ لَمَّا جَاءَهُمْ فَسَوْفَ يَأْتِيهِمْ أَنبَاءُ مَا كَانُواْ بِهِ يَسْتَهْزِؤُونَ |

| Yusuf Ali | And now they reject the truth when it reaches them: but soon shall they learn the reality of what they used to mock at.
|
| Words | |فقد - Then indeed,| كذبوا - they denied| بالحق - the truth| لما - when| جاءهم - it came to them,| فسوف - but soon| يأتيهم - will come to them| أنباء - news| ما - (of) what| كانوا - they used to| به - [at it]| يستهزئون - mock.| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | پھر بیشک انہوں نے (اسی طرح) حق (یعنی قرآن) کو (بھی) جھٹلا دیا جب وہ ان کے پاس (اُلوہی نشانی کے طور پر) آیا، پس عنقریب ان کے پاس اس کی خبریں آیا چاہتی ہیں جس کا وہ مذاق اڑاتے تھے، |

[6:6] | Alam yaraw kam ahlakna min qablihimmin qarnin makkannahum fee al-ardi ma lamnumakkin lakum waarsalna alssamaa AAalayhimmidraran wajaAAalna al-anhara tajree min tahtihimfaahlaknahum bithunoobihim waansha/na minbaAAdihim qarnan akhareena
| ألم يروا كم أهلكنا من قبلهم من قرن مكناهم في الأرض ما لم نمكن لكم وأرسلنا السماء عليهم مدرارا وجعلنا الأنهار تجري من تحتهم فأهلكناهم بذنوبهم وأنشأنا من بعدهم قرنا آخرين
أَلَمْ يَرَوْاْ كَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا مِن قَبْلِهِم مِّن قَرْنٍ مَّكَّنَّاهُمْ فِي الْأَرْضِ مَا لَمْ نُمَكِّن لَّكُمْ وَأَرْسَلْنَا السَّمَاءَ عَلَيْهِم مِّدْرَارًا وَجَعَلْنَا الْأَنْهَارَ تَجْرِي مِن تَحْتِهِمْ فَأَهْلَكْنَاهُم بِذُنُوبِهِمْ وَأَنْشَأْنَا مِن بَعْدِهِمْ قَرْنًا آخَرِينَ |

| Yusuf Ali | See they not how many of those before them We did destroy?- generations We had established on the earth, in strength such as We have not given to you - for whom We poured out rain from the skies in abundance, and gave (fertile) streams flowing beneath their (feet): yet for their sins We destroyed them, and raised in their wake fresh generations (to succeed them).

| Tahir ul Qadri | کیا انہوں نے نہیں دیکھا کہ ہم نے ان سے پہلے کتنی ہی قوموں کو ہلاک کردیا جنہیں ہم نے زمین میں (ایسا مستحکم) اقتدار دیا تھا کہ ایسا اقتدار (اور جماؤ) تمہیں بھی نہیں دیا اور ہم نے ان پر لگا تار برسنے والی بارش بھیجی اور ہم نے ان (کے مکانات و محلّات) کے نیچے سے نہریں بہائیں پھر (اتنی پُرعشرت زندگی دینے کے باوجود) ہم نے ان کے گناہوں کے باعث انہیں ہلاک کردیا اور ان کے بعد ہم نے دوسری اُمتوں کو پیدا کیا، |

[6:7] | Walaw nazzalna AAalayka kitabanfee qirtasin falamasoohu bi-aydeehim laqala allatheenakafaroo in hatha illa sihrun mubeenun
| ولو نزلنا عليك كتابا في قرطاس فلمسوه بأيديهم لقال الذين كفروا إن هذا إلا سحر مبين
وَلَوْ نَزَّلْنَا عَلَيْكَ كِتَابًا فِي قِرْطَاسٍ فَلَمَسُوهُ بِأَيْدِيهِمْ لَقَالَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ إِنْ هَـذَا إِلاَّ سِحْرٌ مُّبِينٌ |

| Yusuf Ali | If We had sent unto thee a written (message) on parchment, so that they could touch it with their hands, the Unbelievers would have been sure to say: "This is nothing but obvious magic!"

| Words | |ولو - And (even) if| نزلنا - We (had) sent down| عليك - to you| كتابا - a written Scripture| في - in| قرطاس - a parchment| فلمسوه - and they touched it| بأيديهم - with their hands,| لقال - surely (would) have said| الذين - those who| كفروا - disbelieved,| إن - "Not| هذا - (is) this| إلا - but| سحر - magic,| مبين - clear."| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور ہم اگر آپ پر کاغذ پہ لکھی ہوئی کتاب نازل فرما دیتے پھر یہ لوگ اسے اپنے ہاتھوں سے چھو بھی لیتے تب (بھی) کافر لوگ (یہی) کہتے کہ یہ صریح جادو کے سوا (کچھ) نہیں، |

[6:8] | Waqaloo lawla onzila AAalayhimalakun walaw anzalna malakan laqudiya al-amruthumma la yuntharoona
| وقالوا لولا أنزل عليه ملك ولو أنزلنا ملكا لقضي الأمر ثم لا ينظرون
وَقَالُواْ لَوْلاَ أُنزِلَ عَلَيْهِ مَلَكٌ وَلَوْ أَنزَلْنَا مَلَكًا لَّقُضِيَ الْأَمْرُ ثُمَّ لاَ يُنظَرُونَ |

| Yusuf Ali | They say: "Why is not an angel sent down to him?" If we did send down an angel, the matter would be settled at once, and no respite would be granted them.
|
| Words | |وقالوا - And they said,| لولا - "Why has not been| أنزل - sent down| عليه - to him| ملك - an Angel?"| ولو - And if| أنزلنا - We (had) sent down| ملكا - an Angel,| لقضي - surely (would) have been decided| الأمر - the matter| ثم - then| لا - no| ينظرون - respite would have been granted to them.| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور وہ (کفّار) کہتے ہیں کہ اس (رسولِ مکرّم) پر کوئی فرشتہ کیوں نہ اتارا گیا (جسے ہم ظاہراً دیکھ سکتے اور وہ ان کی تصدیق کردیتا)، اور ہم اگر فرشتہ اتار دیتے تو (ان کا) کام ہی تمام ہوچکا ہوتا پھر انہیں (ذرا بھی) مہلت نہ دی جاتی، |

[6:9] | Walaw jaAAalnahu malakan lajaAAalnahurajulan walalabasna AAalayhim ma yalbisoona
| ولو جعلناه ملكا لجعلناه رجلا وللبسنا عليهم ما يلبسون
وَلَوْ جَعَلْنَاهُ مَلَكًا لَّجَعَلْنَاهُ رَجُلاً وَلَلَبَسْنَا عَلَيْهِم مَّا يَلْبِسُونَ |

| Yusuf Ali | If We had made it an angel, We should have sent him as a man, and We should certainly have caused them confusion in a matter which they have already covered with confusion.

| Words | |ولو - And if| جعلناه - We had made him| ملكا - an Angel,| لجعلناه - certainly We (would) have made him| رجلا - a man,| وللبسنا - and certainly We (would) have obscured| عليهم - to them| ما - what| يلبسون - they are obscuring.| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور اگر ہم رسول کو فرشتہ بناتے تو اسے بھی آدمی ہی (کی صورت) بناتے اور ہم ان پر(تب بھی) وہی شبہ وارد کردیتے جو شبہ (و التباس) وہ (اب) کر رہے ہیں (یعنی اس کی بھی ظاہری صورت دیکھ کر کہتے کہ یہ ہماری مثل بشر ہے)، |

[6:10] | Walaqadi istuhzi-a birusulin min qablika fahaqabiallatheena sakhiroo minhum ma kanoobihi yastahzi-oona
| ولقد استهزئ برسل من قبلك فحاق بالذين سخروا منهم ما كانوا به يستهزئون
وَلَقَدِ اسْتُهْزِئَ بِرُسُلٍ مِّن قَبْلِكَ فَحَاقَ بِالَّذِينَ سَخِرُواْ مِنْهُم مَّا كَانُواْ بِهِ يَسْتَهْزِؤُونَ |

| Yusuf Ali | Mocked were (many) messengers before thee; but their scoffers were hemmed in by the thing that they mocked.
|
| Words | |ولقد - And indeed| استهزئ - were mocked| برسل - Messengers| من - from| قبلك - before you| فحاق - but surrounded| بالذين - those who| سخروا - scoffed| منهم - of them| ما - what| كانوا - they used to| به - [at it]| يستهزئون - mock.| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور بیشک آپ سے پہلے (بھی) رسولوں کے ساتھ مذاق کیا جاتا رہا، پھر ان میں سے مسخرہ پن کرنے والوں کو(حق کے) اسی (عذاب) نے آگھیرا جس کا وہ مذاق اڑاتے تھے، |

[6:11] | Qul seeroo fee al-ardi thumma onthurookayfa kana AAaqibatu almukaththibeena
| قل سيروا في الأرض ثم انظروا كيف كان عاقبة المكذبين
قُلْ سِيرُواْ فِي الْأَرْضِ ثُمَّ انظُرُواْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الْمُكَذِّبِينَ |

| Yusuf Ali | Say: "Travel through the earth and see what was the end of those who rejected Truth."

[6:12] | Qul liman ma fee alssamawatiwaal-ardi qul lillahi kataba AAalanafsihi alrrahmata layajmaAAannakum ilayawmi alqiyamati la rayba feehi allatheenakhasiroo anfusahum fahum la yu/minoona
| قل لمن ما في السماوات والأرض قل لله كتب على نفسه الرحمة ليجمعنكم إلى يوم القيامة لا ريب فيه الذين خسروا أنفسهم فهم لا يؤمنون
قُل لِّمَن مَّا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ قُل لِّلّهِ كَتَبَ عَلَى نَفْسِهِ الرَّحْمَةَ لَيَجْمَعَنَّكُمْ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ لاَ رَيْبَ فِيهِ الَّذِينَ خَسِرُواْ أَنفُسَهُمْ فَهُمْ لاَ يُؤْمِنُونَ |

| Yusuf Ali | Say: "To whom belongeth all that is in the heavens and on earth?" Say: "To Allah. He hath inscribed for Himself (the rule of) Mercy. That He will gather you together for the Day of Judgment, there is no doubt whatever. It is they who have lost their own souls, that will not believe.

| Tahir ul Qadri | آپ (ان سے سوال) فرمائیں کہ آسمانوں اور زمین میں جو کچھ ہے کس کا ہے؟ (پھر یہ بھی) فرما دیں کہ اﷲ ہی کا ہے، اس نے اپنی ذات پر رحمت لازم فرمالی ہے، وہ تمہیں روزِ قیامت جس میں کوئی شک نہیں ضرور جمع فرمائے گا، جنہوں نے اپنی جانوں کو (دائمی) خسارے میں ڈال دیا ہے سو وہ ایمان نہیں لائیں گے، |

[6:13] | Walahu ma sakana fee allayli waalnnahariwahuwa alssameeAAu alAAaleemu
| وله ما سكن في الليل والنهار وهو السميع العليم
وَلَهُ مَا سَكَنَ فِي اللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ وَهُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ |

| Yusuf Ali | To him belongeth all that dwelleth (or lurketh) in the night and the day. For he is the one who heareth and knoweth all things."
|
| Words | |وله - And for Him| ما - (is) whatever| سكن - dwells| في - in| الليل - the night| والنهار - and the day,| وهو - and He| السميع - (is) All-Hearing,| العليم - All-Knowing.| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور وہ (ساری مخلوق) جو رات میں اور دن میں آرام کرتی ہے، اسی کی ہے، اور وہ خوب سننے والا جاننے والا ہے، |

[6:14] | Qul aghayra Allahi attakhithuwaliyyan fatiri alssamawati waal-ardiwahuwa yutAAimu wala yutAAamu qul inneeomirtu an akoona awwala man aslama wala takoonanna minaalmushrikeena
| قل أغير الله أتخذ وليا فاطر السماوات والأرض وهو يطعم ولا يطعم قل إني أمرت أن أكون أول من أسلم ولا تكونن من المشركين
قُلْ أَغَيْرَ اللّهِ أَتَّخِذُ وَلِيًّا فَاطِرِ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَهُوَ يُطْعِمُ وَلاَ يُطْعَمُ قُلْ إِنِّي أُمِرْتُ أَنْ أَكُونَ أَوَّلَ مَنْ أَسْلَمَ وَلاَ تَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكَينَ |

| Yusuf Ali | Say: "Shall I take for my protector any other than Allah, the Maker of the heavens and the earth? And He it is that feedeth but is not fed." Say: "Nay! but I am commanded to be the first of those who bow to Allah (in Islam), and be not thou of the company of those who join gods with Allah."

| Tahir ul Qadri | فرما دیجئے: کیا میں کسی دوسرے کو (عبادت کے لئے اپنا) دوست بنا لوں (اس) اﷲ کے سوا جو آسمانوں اور زمین کا پیدا کرنے والا ہے اور وہ (سب کو) کھلاتا ہے اور (خود اسے) کھلایا نہیں جاتا۔ فرما دیں: مجھے حکم دیا گیا ہے کہ میں (اس کے حضور) سب سے پہلا (سرجھکانے والا) مسلمان ہوجاؤں اور (یہ بھی فرمادیا گیا ہے کہ) تم مشرکوں میں سے ہرگز نہ ہوجانا، |

[6:15] | Qul innee akhafu in AAasayturabbee AAathaba yawmin AAatheemin
| قل إني أخاف إن عصيت ربي عذاب يوم عظيم
قُلْ إِنِّي أَخَافُ إِنْ عَصَيْتُ رَبِّي عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ |

| Yusuf Ali | Say: "I would, if I disobeyed my Lord, indeed have fear of the penalty of a Mighty Day.
|
| Words | |قل - Say,| إني - "Indeed, I| أخاف - [I] fear| إن - if| عصيت - I disobeyed| ربي - my Lord,| عذاب - punishment| يوم - (of) a Day,| عظيم - Mighty."| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | فرما دیجئے کہ بیشک میں (تو) بڑے عذاب کے دن سے ڈرتا ہوں، اگر میں اپنے رب کی نافرمانی کروں (سو یہ کیسے ممکن ہے؟)، |

[6:16] | Man yusraf AAanhu yawma-ithinfaqad rahimahu wathalika alfawzu almubeenu
| من يصرف عنه يومئذ فقد رحمه وذلك الفوز المبين
مَّن يُصْرَفْ عَنْهُ يَوْمَئِذٍ فَقَدْ رَحِمَهُ وَذَلِكَ الْفَوْزُ الْمُبِينُ |

| Yusuf Ali | "On that day, if the penalty is averted from any, it is due to Allah's mercy; And that would be (Salvation), the obvious fulfilment of all desire.

| Words | |من - Whoever| يصرف - is averted| عنه - from it| يومئذ - that Day| فقد - then surely| رحمه - He had Mercy on him.| وذلك - And that| الفوز - (is) the success| المبين - (the) clear.| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | اس دن جس شخص سے وہ (عذاب) پھیر دیا گیا تو بیشک (اﷲ نے) اس پر رحم فرمایا، اور یہی (اُخروی بخشش) کھلی کامیابی ہے، |

[6:17] | Wa-in yamsaska Allahu bidurrinfala kashifa lahu illa huwa wa-in yamsaskabikhayrin fahuwa AAala kulli shay-in qadeerun
| وإن يمسسك الله بضر فلا كاشف له إلا هو وإن يمسسك بخير فهو على كل شيء قدير
وَإِن يَمْسَسْكَ اللّهُ بِضُرٍّ فَلاَ كَاشِفَ لَهُ إِلاَّ هُوَ وَإِن يَمْسَسْكَ بِخَيْرٍ فَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ |

| Yusuf Ali | "If Allah touch thee with affliction, none can remove it but He; if He touch thee with happiness, He hath power over all things.

[6:18] | Wahuwa alqahiru fawqa AAibadihiwahuwa alhakeemu alkhabeeru
| وهو القاهر فوق عباده وهو الحكيم الخبير
وَهُوَ الْقَاهِرُ فَوْقَ عِبَادِهِ وَهُوَ الْحَكِيمُ الْخَبِيرُ |

| Yusuf Ali | "He is the irresistible, (watching) from above over His worshippers; and He is the Wise, acquainted with all things."

[6:19] | Qul ayyu shay-in akbaru shahadatanquli Allahu shaheedun baynee wabaynakum waoohiyailayya hatha alqur-anu li-onthirakum bihiwaman balagha a-innakum latashhadoona anna maAAa Allahi alihatanokhra qul la ashhadu qul innama huwa ilahunwahidun wa-innanee baree-on mimma tushrikoona
| قل أي شيء أكبر شهادة قل الله شهيد بيني وبينكم وأوحي إلي هذا القرآن لأنذركم به ومن بلغ أئنكم لتشهدون أن مع الله آلهة أخرى قل لا أشهد قل إنما هو إله واحد وإنني بريء مما تشركون
قُلْ أَيُّ شَيْءٍ أَكْبَرُ شَهَادَةً قُلِ اللّهُ شَهِيدٌ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَكُمْ وَأُوحِيَ إِلَيَّ هَذَا الْقُرْآنُ لِأُنذِرَكُم بِهِ وَمَن بَلَغَ أَئِنَّكُمْ لَتَشْهَدُونَ أَنَّ مَعَ اللّهِ آلِهَةً أُخْرَى قُل لاَّ أَشْهَدُ قُلْ إِنَّمَا هُوَ إِلَـهٌ وَاحِدٌ وَإِنَّنِي بَرِيءٌ مِّمَّا تُشْرِكُونَ |

| Yusuf Ali | Say: "What thing is most weighty in evidence?" Say: "Allah is witness between me and you; This Qur'an hath been revealed to me by inspiration, that I may warn you and all whom it reaches. Can ye possibly bear witness that besides Allah there is another Allah?" Say: "Nay! I cannot bear witness!" Say: "But in truth He is the one Allah, and I truly am innocent of (your blasphemy of) joining others with Him."

| Tahir ul Qadri | آپ (ان سے دریافت) فرمائیے کہ گواہی دینے میں سب سے بڑھ کر کون ہے؟ آپ (ہی) فرما دیجئے کہ اﷲ میرے اور تمہارے درمیان گواہ ہے، اور میری طرف یہ قرآن اس لئے وحی کیا گیا ہے کہ اس کے ذریعے تمہیں اور ہر اس شخص کو جس تک (یہ قرآن) پہنچے ڈر سناؤں۔ کیا تم واقعی اس بات کی گواہی دیتے ہو کہ اﷲ کے ساتھ دوسرے معبود (بھی) ہیں؟ آپ فرما دیں: میں (تو اس غلط بات کی) گواہی نہیں دیتا، فرما دیجئے: بس معبود تو وہی ایک ہی ہے اور میں ان(سب) چیزوں سے بیزار ہوں جنہیں تم (اﷲ کا) شریک ٹھہراتے ہو، |

[6:20] | Allatheena ataynahumualkitaba yaAArifoonahu kama yaAArifoona abnaahumallatheena khasiroo anfusahum fahum la yu/minoona
| الذين آتيناهم الكتاب يعرفونه كما يعرفون أبناءهم الذين خسروا أنفسهم فهم لا يؤمنون
الَّذِينَ آتَيْنَاهُمُ الْكِتَابَ يَعْرِفُونَهُ كَمَا يَعْرِفُونَ أَبْنَاءَهُمُ الَّذِينَ خَسِرُواْ أَنفُسَهُمْ فَهُمْ لاَ يُؤْمِنُونَ |

| Yusuf Ali | Those to whom We have given the Book know this as they know their own sons. Those who have lost their own souls refuse therefore to believe.

| Tahir ul Qadri | وہ لوگ جنہیں ہم نے کتاب دی تھی اس (نبئ آخر الزماں صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو ویسے ہی پہچانتے ہیں جیسے اپنے بیٹوں کو پہچانتے ہیں، جنہوں نے اپنی جانوں کو (دائمی) خسارے میں ڈال دیا ہے سو وہ ایمان نہیں لائیں گے، |

[6:21] | Waman athlamu mimmani iftaraAAala Allahi kathiban aw kaththababi-ayatihi innahu la yuflihu alththalimoona
| ومن أظلم ممن افترى على الله كذبا أو كذب بآياته إنه لا يفلح الظالمون
وَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّنِ افْتَرَى عَلَى اللّهِ كَذِبًا أَوْ كَذَّبَ بِآيَاتِهِ إِنَّهُ لاَ يُفْلِحُ الظَّالِمُونَ |

| Yusuf Ali | Who doth more wrong than he who inventeth a lie against Allah or rejecteth His signs? But verily the wrong-doers never shall prosper.

| Tahir ul Qadri | اور اس سے بڑا ظالم کون ہوسکتا ہے جس نے اﷲ پر جھوٹا بہتان باندھا یا اس نے اس کی آیتوں کو جھٹلایا؟ بیشک ظالم لوگ فلاح نہیں پائیں گے، |

[6:22] | Wayawma nahshuruhum jameeAAan thummanaqoolu lillatheena ashrakoo ayna shurakaokumu allatheenakuntum tazAAumoona
| ويوم نحشرهم جميعا ثم نقول للذين أشركوا أين شركاؤكم الذين كنتم تزعمون
وَيَوْمَ نَحْشُرُهُمْ جَمِيعًا ثُمَّ نَقُولُ لِلَّذِينَ أَشْرَكُواْ أَيْنَ شُرَكَآؤُكُمُ الَّذِينَ كُنتُمْ تَزْعُمُونَ |

| Yusuf Ali | One day shall We gather them all together: We shall say to those who ascribed partners (to Us): "Where are the partners whom ye (invented and) talked about?"

| Tahir ul Qadri | اور جس دن ہم سب کو جمع کریں گے پھر ہم ان لوگوں سے کہیں گے جو شرک کرتے تھے: تمہارے وہ شریک کہاں ہیں جنہیں تم (معبود) خیال کرتے تھے، |

[6:23] | Thumma lam takun fitnatuhum illa an qaloowaAllahi rabbina ma kunnamushrikeena
| ثم لم تكن فتنتهم إلا أن قالوا والله ربنا ما كنا مشركين
ثُمَّ لَمْ تَكُن فِتْنَتُهُمْ إِلاَّ أَن قَالُواْ وَاللّهِ رَبِّنَا مَا كُنَّا مُشْرِكِينَ |

| Yusuf Ali | There will then be (left) no subterfuge for them but to say: "By Allah our Lord, we were not those who joined gods with Allah."

[6:24] | Onthur kayfa kathabooAAala anfusihim wadalla AAanhum ma kanooyaftaroona
| انظر كيف كذبوا على أنفسهم وضل عنهم ما كانوا يفترون
انظُرْ كَيْفَ كَذَبُواْ عَلَى أَنفُسِهِمْ وَضَلَّ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُواْ يَفْتَرُونَ |

| Yusuf Ali | Behold! how they lie against their own souls! But the (lie) which they invented will leave them in the lurch.

| Words | |انظر - Look| كيف - how| كذبوا - they lied| على - against| أنفسهم - themselves.| وضل - And lost| عنهم - from them| ما - what| كانوا - they used to| يفترون - invent.| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | دیکھئے انہوں نے خود اپنے اوپر کیسا جھوٹ بولا اور جو بہتان وہ (دنیا میں) تراشا کرتے تھے وہ ان سے غائب ہوگیا، |

[6:25] | Waminhum man yastamiAAu ilayka wajaAAalnaAAala quloobihim akinnatan an yafqahoohu wafee athanihimwaqran wa-in yaraw kulla ayatin la yu/minoo bihahatta itha jaooka yujadiloonakayaqoolu allatheena kafaroo in hatha illa asateerual-awwaleena
| ومنهم من يستمع إليك وجعلنا على قلوبهم أكنة أن يفقهوه وفي آذانهم وقرا وإن يروا كل آية لا يؤمنوا بها حتى إذا جاءوك يجادلونك يقول الذين كفروا إن هذا إلا أساطير الأولين
وَمِنْهُم مَّن يَسْتَمِعُ إِلَيْكَ وَجَعَلْنَا عَلَى قُلُوبِهِمْ أَكِنَّةً أَن يَفْقَهُوهُ وَفِي آذَانِهِمْ وَقْرًا وَإِن يَرَوْاْ كُلَّ آيَةٍ لاَّ يُؤْمِنُواْ بِهَا حَتَّى إِذَا جَآؤُوكَ يُجَادِلُونَكَ يَقُولُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ إِنْ هَذَآ إِلاَّ أَسَاطِيرُ الْأَوَّلِينَ |

| Yusuf Ali | Of them there are some who (pretend to) listen to thee; but We have thrown veils on their hearts, So they understand it not, and deafness in their ears; if they saw every one of the signs, not they will believe in them; in so much that when they come to thee, they (but) dispute with thee; the Unbelievers say: "These are nothing but tales of the ancients."

| Tahir ul Qadri | اور ان میں کچھ وہ (بھی) ہیں جو آپ کی طرف کان لگائے رہتے ہیں اور ہم نے ان کے دلوں پر(ان کی اپنی بدنیتی کے باعث) پردے ڈال دیئے ہیں (سو اب ان کے لئے ممکن نہیں) کہ وہ اس (قرآن) کو سمجھ سکیں اور (ہم نے) ان کے کانوں میں ڈاٹ دے دی ہے، اور اگر وہ تمام نشانیوں کو (کھلا بھی) دیکھ لیں تو (بھی) اس پر ایمان نہیں لائیں گے۔ حتیٰ کہ جب آپ کے پاس آتے ہیں، آپ سے جھگڑا کرتے ہیں (اس وقت) کافر لوگ کہتے ہیں کہ یہ (قرآن) پہلے لوگوں کی جھوٹی کہانیوں کے سوا (کچھ) نہیں، |
26.
[6:26] | Wahum yanhawna AAanhu wayan-awna AAanhuwa-in yuhlikoona illa anfusahum wama yashAAuroona
| وهم ينهون عنه وينأون عنه وإن يهلكون إلا أنفسهم وما يشعرون
وَهُمْ يَنْهَوْنَ عَنْهُ وَيَنْأَوْنَ عَنْهُ وَإِن يُهْلِكُونَ إِلاَّ أَنفُسَهُمْ وَمَا يَشْعُرُونَ |

| Yusuf Ali | Others they keep away from it, and themselves they keep away; but they only destroy their own souls, and they perceive it not.

| Words | |وهم - And they| ينهون - forbid (others)| عنه - from it| وينأون - and they keep away| عنه - from it.| وإن - And not| يهلكون - they destroy| إلا - except| أنفسهم - themselves| وما - and not| يشعرون - they perceive.| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور وہ (دوسروں کو) اس (نبی کی اتباع اور قرآن) سے روکتے ہیں اور (خود بھی) اس سے دور بھاگتے ہیں، اور وہ محض اپنی ہی جانوں کو ہلاک کررہے ہیں اور وہ (اس ہلاکت کا) شعور (بھی) نہیں رکھتے، |

[6:27] | Walaw tara ith wuqifoo AAalaalnnari faqaloo ya laytananuraddu wala nukaththiba bi-ayatirabbina wanakoona mina almu/mineena
| ولو ترى إذ وقفوا على النار فقالوا يا ليتنا نرد ولا نكذب بآيات ربنا ونكون من المؤمنين
وَلَوْ تَرَى إِذْ وُقِفُواْ عَلَى النَّارِ فَقَالُواْ يَا لَيْتَنَا نُرَدُّ وَلاَ نُكَذِّبَ بِآيَاتِ رَبِّنَا وَنَكُونَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ |

| Yusuf Ali | If thou couldst but see when they are confronted with the Fire! They will say: "Would that we were but sent back! Then would we not reject the signs of our Lord, but would be amongst those who believe!"

| Words | |ولو - And if| ترى - you (could) see| إذ - when| وقفوا - they are made to stand| على - by| النار - the Fire| فقالوا - then they (will) say,| يا - O| ليتنا - "Oh! Would that we| نرد - were sent back| ولا - and not| نكذب - we would deny| بآيات - (the) Signs| ربنا - (of) our Lord| ونكون - and we would be| من - among| المؤمنين - the believers."| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | اگر آپ (انہیں اس وقت) دیکھیں جب وہ آگ (کے کنارے) پر کھڑے کئے جائیں گے تو کہیں گے: اے کاش! ہم (دنیا میں) پلٹا دیئے جائیں تو (اب) ہم اپنے رب کی آیتوں کو (کبھی) نہیں جھٹلائیں گے اور ایمان والوں میں سے ہو جائیں گے، |

[6:28] | Bal bada lahum ma kanooyukhfoona min qablu walaw ruddoo laAAadoo limanuhoo AAanhu wa-innahum lakathiboona
| بل بدا لهم ما كانوا يخفون من قبل ولو ردوا لعادوا لما نهوا عنه وإنهم لكاذبون
بَلْ بَدَا لَهُم مَّا كَانُواْ يُخْفُونَ مِن قَبْلُ وَلَوْ رُدُّواْ لَعَادُواْ لِمَا نُهُواْ عَنْهُ وَإِنَّهُمْ لَكَاذِبُونَ |

| Yusuf Ali | Yea, in their own (eyes) will become manifest what before they concealed. But if they were returned, they would certainly relapse to the things they were forbidden, for they are indeed liars.

| Tahir ul Qadri | (اس اقرار میں کوئی سچائی نہیں) بلکہ ان پر وہ (سب کچھ) ظاہر ہوگیا ہے جو وہ پہلے چھپایا کرتے تھے، اور اگر وہ (دنیا میں) لوٹا (بھی) دیئے جائیں تو (پھر) وہی دہرائیں گے جس سے وہ روکے گئے تھے اور بیشک وہ (پکے) جھوٹے ہیں، |

[6:29] | Waqaloo in hiya illa hayatunaalddunya wama nahnu bimabAAootheena
| وقالوا إن هي إلا حياتنا الدنيا وما نحن بمبعوثين
وَقَالُواْ إِنْ هِيَ إِلاَّ حَيَاتُنَا الدُّنْيَا وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَبْعُوثِينَ |

| Yusuf Ali | And they (sometimes) say: "There is nothing except our life on this earth, and never shall we be raised up again."
|
| Words | |وقالوا - And they said,| إن - "Not| هي - it (is)| إلا - except| حياتنا - our life| الدنيا - (of) the world| وما - and not| نحن - we| بمبعوثين - (will be) resurrected."| |
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور وہ (یہی) کہتے رہیں گے (جیسے انہوں نے پہلے کہا تھا) کہ ہماری اس دنیوی زندگی کے سوا (اور) کوئی (زندگی) نہیں اور ہم (مرنے کے بعد) نہیں اٹھائے جائیں گے، |

[6:30] | Walaw tara ith wuqifoo AAalarabbihim qala alaysa hatha bialhaqqiqaloo bala warabbina qala fathooqooalAAathaba bima kuntum takfuroona
| ولو ترى إذ وقفوا على ربهم قال أليس هذا بالحق قالوا بلى وربنا قال فذوقوا العذاب بما كنتم تكفرون
وَلَوْ تَرَى إِذْ وُقِفُواْ عَلَى رَبِّهِمْ قَالَ أَلَيْسَ هَذَا بِالْحَقِّ قَالُواْ بَلَى وَرَبِّنَا قَالَ فَذُوقُواْ العَذَابَ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَكْفُرُونَ |

| Tahir ul Qadri | اور اگر آپ (انہیں اس وقت) دیکھیں جب وہ اپنے رب کے حضور کھڑے کئے جائیں گے، (اور انہیں) اﷲ فرمائے گا: کیا یہ (زندگی) حق نہیں ہے؟ (تو) کہیں گے: کیوں نہیں! ہمارے رب کی قسم (یہ حق ہے، پھر) اﷲ فرمائے گا: پس (اب) تم عذاب کا مزہ چکھو اس وجہ سے کہ تم کفر کیا کرتے تھے، |
