[40:61] | allâhü-lleẕî ce`ale lekümü-lleyle liteskünû fîhi vennehâra mübṣirâ. inne-llâhe leẕû faḍlin `ale-nnâsi velâkinne ekŝera-nnâsi lâ yeşkürûn. |  الله الذي جعل لكم الليل لتسكنوا فيه والنهار مبصرا إن الله لذو فضل على الناس ولكن أكثر الناس لا يشكرون
اللَّهُ الَّذِي جَعَلَ لَكُمُ اللَّيْلَ لِتَسْكُنُوا فِيهِ وَالنَّهَارَ مُبْصِرًا إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَذُو فَضْلٍ عَلَى النَّاسِ وَلَكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لَا يَشْكُرُونَ |

| Elmalılı | İçinde dinlenesiniz diye geceyi, göz açıcı bir aydınlık olarak da gündüzü sizin için yaratan Allah'tır. Gerçekten Allah insanlara karşı bir lütuf sahibidir. Fakat insanların çoğu şükretmezler |
| Y. Ali | It is Allah Who has made the Night for you, that ye may rest therein, and the days as that which helps (you) to see. Verily Allah is full of Grace and Bounty to men: yet most men give no thanks.

ذَلِكُمُ اللَّهُ رَبُّكُمْ خَالِقُ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ لَّا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ فَأَنَّى تُؤْفَكُونَ |

| Elmalılı | İşte Rabbiniz, her şeyin yaratıcısı olan o Allah'tır. O'ndan başka ilâh yoktur. O halde (haktan) nasıl çevrilirsiniz? |
| Y. Ali | Such is Allah, your Lord, the Creator of all things, there is no god but He: Then how ye are deluded away from the Truth!

كَذَلِكَ يُؤْفَكُ الَّذِينَ كَانُوا بِآيَاتِ اللَّهِ يَجْحَدُونَ |

| Y. Ali | Thus are deluded those who are wont to reject the Signs of Allah.

[40:64] | allâhü-lleẕî ce`ale lekümü-l'arḍa ḳarârav vessemâe binâev veṣavveraküm feaḥsene ṣuveraküm verazeḳaküm mine-ṭṭayyibât. ẕâlikümü-llâhü rabbüküm. fetebârake-llâhü rabbü-l`âlemîn. | الله الذي جعل لكم الأرض قرارا والسماء بناء وصوركم فأحسن صوركم ورزقكم من الطيبات ذلكم الله ربكم فتبارك الله رب العالمين
اللَّهُ الَّذِي جَعَلَ لَكُمُ الْأَرْضَ قَرَارًا وَالسَّمَاءَ بِنَاءً وَصَوَّرَكُمْ فَأَحْسَنَ صُوَرَكُمْ وَرَزَقَكُم مِّنَ الطَّيِّبَاتِ ذَلِكُمُ اللَّهُ رَبُّكُمْ فَتَبَارَكَ اللَّهُ رَبُّ الْعَالَمِينَ |

| Elmalılı | Allah, O'dur ki sizin için yeri bir karargâh, göğü de bir bina yapmıştır. Size şekil vermiş, sonra şekillerinizi güzelleştirmiştir. Hoş nimetlerden size rızık vermiştir. İşte Rabbiniz o Allah'tır. Âlemlerin Rabbi olan Allah ne yücedir! |
| Y. Ali | It is Allah Who has made for you the earth as a resting place, and the sky as a canopy, and has given you shape- and made your shapes beautiful,- and has provided for you Sustenance, of things pure and good;- such is Allah your Lord. So Glory to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds!

هُوَ الْحَيُّ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ فَادْعُوهُ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ الدِّينَ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ |

| Elmalılı | Daimî bir hayat sahibi ancak O'dur. O'ndan başka ilâh yoktur. Onun için dini halis kılarak O'na, hep O'na yalvarın. Hamd, âlemlerin Rabbi olan Allah'a mahsustur. |
| Y. Ali | He is the Living (One): There is no god but He: Call upon Him, giving Him sincere devotion. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds!

قُلْ إِنِّي نُهِيتُ أَنْ أَعْبُدَ الَّذِينَ تَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ لَمَّا جَاءَنِيَ الْبَيِّنَاتُ مِن رَّبِّي وَأُمِرْتُ أَنْ أُسْلِمَ لِرَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ |

| Elmalılı | De ki: "Bana Rabbimden apaçık deliller geldiği zaman, ben o sizin Allah'ı bırakıp taptıklarınıza ibadet etmekten kesinlikle men edildim ve bana âlemlerin Rabbine teslim olmam emredildi." |
| Y. Ali | Say: "I have been forbidden to invoke those whom ye invoke besides Allah,- seeing that the Clear Signs have come to me from my Lord; and I have been commanded to bow (in Islam) to the Lord of the Worlds."

[40:67] | hüve-lleẕî ḫaleḳaküm min türâbin ŝümme min nuṭfetin ŝümme min `aleḳatin ŝümme yuḫricüküm ṭiflen ŝümme liteblügû eşüddeküm ŝümme litekûnû şüyûḫâ. veminküm mey yüteveffâ min ḳablü veliteblügû ecelem müsemmev vele`alleküm ta`ḳilûn. | هو الذي خلقكم من تراب ثم من نطفة ثم من علقة ثم يخرجكم طفلا ثم لتبلغوا أشدكم ثم لتكونوا شيوخا ومنكم من يتوفى من قبل ولتبلغوا أجلا مسمى ولعلكم تعقلون
هُوَ الَّذِي خَلَقَكُم مِّن تُرَابٍ ثُمَّ مِن نُّطْفَةٍ ثُمَّ مِنْ عَلَقَةٍ ثُمَّ يُخْرِجُكُمْ طِفْلًا ثُمَّ لِتَبْلُغُوا أَشُدَّكُمْ ثُمَّ لِتَكُونُوا شُيُوخًا وَمِنكُم مَّن يُتَوَفَّى مِن قَبْلُ وَلِتَبْلُغُوا أَجَلًا مُّسَمًّى وَلَعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ |

| Elmalılı | "Sizi (önce) bir topraktan, sonra bir damla sudan, sonra bir aleka (embriyo)dan yaratan, sonra sizi bir bebek olarak çıkaran, sonra güçlü kuvvetli bir çağa erişmeniz, sonra da ihtiyarlar olmanız için yaşatıp büyüten O'dur. İçinizden kimi de daha önce vefat ettiriliyor. (Bunları Allah) belirli bir süreye ulaşasınız ve aklınızı kullanasınız diye (böyle yapıyor)." |

Ali | It is He Who has created you from dust then from a sperm-drop, then from a leech-like clot; then does he get you out (into the light) as a child: then lets you (grow and) reach your age of full strength; then lets you become old,- though of you there are some who die before;- and lets you reach a Term appointed; in order that ye may learn wisdom.

[40:68] | hüve-lleẕî yuḥyî veyümît. feiẕâ ḳaḍâ emran feinnemâ yeḳûlü lehû kün feyekûn. | هو الذي يحيي ويميت فإذا قضى أمرا فإنما يقول له كن فيكون
هُوَ الَّذِي يُحْيِي وَيُمِيتُ فَإِذَا قَضَى أَمْرًا فَإِنَّمَا يَقُولُ لَهُ كُن فَيَكُونُ |

| Elmalılı | O, hem yaşatır, hem öldürür. O, bir şey yapmak isteyince ona sadece "ol!" der, o şey de hemen oluverir. |
| Y. Ali | It is He Who gives Life and Death; and when He decides upon an affair, He says to it, "Be", and it is.

[40:69] | elem tera ile-lleẕîne yücâdilûne fî âyâti-llâh. ennâ yuṣrafûn. | ألم تر إلى الذين يجادلون في آيات الله أنى يصرفون
أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى الَّذِينَ يُجَادِلُونَ فِي آيَاتِ اللَّهِ أَنَّى يُصْرَفُونَ |

| Elmalılı | Bakmaz mısın şimdi Allah'ın âyetleri hakkında mücadeleye kalkanlara! (Haktan) nasıl döndürülüyorlar? |
| Y. Ali | Seest thou not those that dispute concerning the Signs of Allah? How are they turned away (from Reality)?-

[40:70] | elleẕîne keẕẕebû bilkitâbi vebimâ erselnâ bihî rusülenâ. fesevfe ya`lemûn. | الذين كذبوا بالكتاب وبما أرسلنا به رسلنا فسوف يعلمون
الَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا بِالْكِتَابِ وَبِمَا أَرْسَلْنَا بِهِ رُسُلَنَا فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ |

| Elmalılı | Kitaba ve Resullerimizi gönderdiğimiz şeylere yalan diyenler, artık ilerde bilecekler. |
| Y. Ali | Those who reject the Book and the (revelations) with which We sent our messengers: but soon shall they know,-

[40:71] | iẕi-l'aglâlü fî a`nâḳihim vesselâsil. yüsḥabûn. | إذ الأغلال في أعناقهم والسلاسل يسحبون
إِذِ الْأَغْلَالُ فِي أَعْنَاقِهِمْ وَالسَّلَاسِلُ يُسْحَبُونَ |

| Elmalılı | O zaman boyunlarında halkalar ve zincirler olduğu halde sürükleneceklerdir. |
| Y. Ali | When the yokes (shall be) round their necks, and the chains; they shall be dragged along-

[40:72] | fi-lḥamîmi ŝümme fi-nnâri yüscerûn. | في الحميم ثم في النار يسجرون
فِي الْحَمِيمِ ثُمَّ فِي النَّارِ يُسْجَرُونَ |

| Elmalılı | Kaynar suda, sonra da ateşte kaynatılacaklardır. |
| Y. Ali | In the boiling fetid fluid: then in the Fire shall they be burned;

[40:73] | ŝümme ḳîle lehüm eyne mâ küntüm tüşrikûn. | ثم قيل لهم أين ما كنتم تشركون
ثُمَّ قِيلَ لَهُمْ أَيْنَ مَا كُنتُمْ تُشْرِكُونَ |

| Elmalılı | Sonra da onlara: "Nerede o ortak koştuklarınız?" denilecek. |
| Y. Ali | Then shall it be said to them: "Where are the (deities) to which ye gave part-worship-

[40:74] | min dûni-llâh. ḳâlû ḍallû `annâ bel lem nekün ned`û min ḳablü şey'â. keẕâlike yüḍillü-llâhü-lkâfirîn. | من دون الله قالوا ضلوا عنا بل لم نكن ندعو من قبل شيئا كذلك يضل الله الكافرين
مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ قَالُوا ضَلُّوا عَنَّا بَل لَّمْ نَكُن نَّدْعُواْ مِن قَبْلُ شَيْئًا كَذَلِكَ يُضِلُّ اللَّهُ الْكَافِرِينَ |

| Elmalılı | O Allah'tan başkaları (nerede denilecek). Onlar da diyecekler ki: "Hepsi bizden uzaklaşıp gittiler. Daha doğrusu biz bundan önce hiçbir şeye ibadet etmiyormuşuz." İşte Allah, o kâfirleri böyle şaşırtır. |
| Y. Ali | "In derogation of Allah?" They will reply: "They have left us in the lurch: Nay, we invoked not, of old, anything (that had real existence)." Thus does Allah leave the Unbelievers to stray.

[40:75] | ẕâliküm bimâ küntüm tefraḥûne fi-l'arḍi bigayri-lḥaḳḳi vebimâ küntüm temraḥûn. | ذلكم بما كنتم تفرحون في الأرض بغير الحق وبما كنتم تمرحون
ذَلِكُم بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَفْرَحُونَ فِي الْأَرْضِ بِغَيْرِ الْحَقِّ وَبِمَا كُنتُمْ تَمْرَحُونَ |

| Elmalılı | Bunun sebebi şudur: Çünkü siz yeryüzünde haksız yere seviniyor ve güveniyordunuz. |
| Y. Ali | "That was because ye were wont to rejoice on the earth in things other than the Truth, and that ye were wont to be insolent.

[40:76] | üdḫulû ebvâbe cehenneme ḫâlidîne fîhâ. febi'se meŝve-lmütekebbirîn. | ادخلوا أبواب جهنم خالدين فيها فبئس مثوى المتكبرين
ادْخُلُوا أَبْوَابَ جَهَنَّمَ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا فَبِئْسَ مَثْوَى الْمُتَكَبِّرِينَ |

| Elmalılı | İçlerinde ebedî olarak kalmak üzere cehennemin kapılarından girin. Bak ne kötü o kibirlenenlerin yeri? |
| Y. Ali | "Enter ye the gates of Hell, to dwell therein: and evil is (this) abode of the arrogant!"

[40:77] | faṣbir inne va`de-llâhi ḥaḳḳun. feimmâ nüriyenneke ba`ḍa-lleẕî ne`idühüm ev neteveffeyenneke feileynâ yürce`ûn. | فاصبر إن وعد الله حق فإما نرينك بعض الذي نعدهم أو نتوفينك فإلينا يرجعون
فَاصْبِرْ إِنَّ وَعْدَ اللَّهِ حَقٌّ فَإِمَّا نُرِيَنَّكَ بَعْضَ الَّذِي نَعِدُهُمْ أَوْ نَتَوَفَّيَنَّكَ فَإِلَيْنَا يُرْجَعُونَ |

| Elmalılı | Ey Muhammed! Sen sabret, şüphesiz Allah'ın vaadi haktır, mutlaka gerçekleşecektir. Onlara yaptığımız tehdidin bir kısmını sana göstersek de veya seni vefat ettirsek de onlar mutlaka döndürülüp bize getirileceklerdir. |
| Y. Ali | So persevere in patience; for the Promise of Allah is true: and whether We show thee (in this life) some part of what We promise them,- or We take thy soul (to Our Mercy) (before that),-(in any case) it is to Us that they shall (all) return.

[40:78] | veleḳad erselnâ rusülem min ḳablike minhüm men ḳaṣaṣnâ `aleyke veminhüm mel lem naḳṣuṣ `aleyk. vemâ kâne lirasûlin ey ye'tiye biâyetin illâ biiẕni-llâh. feiẕâ câe emru-llâhi ḳuḍiye bilḥaḳḳi veḫasira hünâlike-lmübṭilûn. | ولقد أرسلنا رسلا من قبلك منهم من قصصنا عليك ومنهم من لم نقصص عليك وما كان لرسول أن يأتي بآية إلا بإذن الله فإذا جاء أمر الله قضي بالحق وخسر هنالك المبطلون
وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا رُسُلًا مِّن قَبْلِكَ مِنْهُم مَّن قَصَصْنَا عَلَيْكَ وَمِنْهُم مَّن لَّمْ نَقْصُصْ عَلَيْكَ وَمَا كَانَ لِرَسُولٍ أَنْ يَأْتِيَ بِآيَةٍ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِ اللَّهِ فَإِذَا جَاءَ أَمْرُ اللَّهِ قُضِيَ بِالْحَقِّ وَخَسِرَ هُنَالِكَ الْمُبْطِلُونَ |

| Elmalılı | Andolsun ki biz senin önünden nice peygamberler göndermişizdir. Onlardan kimini sana anlatmışız, kimini de anlatmamışızdır. Hiçbir peygamber, Allah'ın izni olmaksızın bir mucize getiremez. Allah'ın emri gelince de hak yerine getirilir. Batıl bir dava peşinde koşanlar, işte bu noktada hüsrana uğrarlar. |
| Y. Ali | We did aforetime send messengers before thee: of them there are some whose story We have related to thee, and some whose story We have not related to thee. It was not (possible) for any messenger to bring a sign except by the leave of Allah: but when the Command of Allah issued, the matter was decided in truth and justice, and there perished, there and then those who stood on Falsehoods.

[40:79] | allâhü-lleẕî ce`ale lekümü-l'en`âme literkebû minhâ veminhâ te'külûn. | الله الذي جعل لكم الأنعام لتركبوا منها ومنها تأكلون
اللَّهُ الَّذِي جَعَلَ لَكُمُ الْأَنْعَامَ لِتَرْكَبُوا مِنْهَا وَمِنْهَا تَأْكُلُونَ |

| Elmalılı | Kimine binesiniz, kimini de yiyesiniz diye sizin için o yumuşak başlı hayvanları yaratan Allah'tır. |
| Y. Ali | It is Allah Who made cattle for you, that ye may use some for riding and some for food;
|
| Words | |الله - Allah| الذي - (is) the One Who| جعل - made| لكم - for you| الأنعام - the cattle,| لتركبوا - that you may ride| منها - some of them| ومنها - and some of them| تأكلون - you eat.| |

[40:80] | veleküm fîhâ menâfi`u veliteblügû `aleyhâ ḥâceten fî ṣudûriküm ve`aleyhâ ve`ale-lfülki tuḥmelûn. | ولكم فيها منافع ولتبلغوا عليها حاجة في صدوركم وعليها وعلى الفلك تحملون
وَلَكُمْ فِيهَا مَنَافِعُ وَلِتَبْلُغُوا عَلَيْهَا حَاجَةً فِي صُدُورِكُمْ وَعَلَيْهَا وَعَلَى الْفُلْكِ تُحْمَلُونَ |

| Elmalılı | Sizin için onlarda daha nice menfaatler vardır. Onların üzerinde gönüllerinizdeki bir arzuya erersiniz. Hem onlar üzerinde, hem de gemiler üzerinde taşınırsınız. |
| Y. Ali | And there are (other) advantages in them for you (besides); that ye may through them attain to any need (there may be) in your hearts; and on them and on ships ye are carried.

[40:81] | veyürîküm âyâtih. feeyye âyâti-llâhi tünkirûn. | ويريكم آياته فأي آيات الله تنكرون
وَيُرِيكُمْ آيَاتِهِ فَأَيَّ آيَاتِ اللَّهِ تُنكِرُونَ |

| Elmalılı | Allah size âyetlerini gösteriyor. Şimdi Allah'ın âyetlerinin hangisini inkâr edersiniz? |
| Y. Ali | And He shows you (always) His Signs: then which of the Signs of Allah will ye deny?

[40:82] | efelem yesîrû fi-l'arḍi feyenżurû keyfe kâne `âḳibetü-lleẕîne min ḳablihim. kânû ekŝera minhüm veeşedde ḳuvvetev veâŝâran fi-l'arḍi femâ agnâ `anhüm mâ kânû yeksibûn. | أفلم يسيروا في الأرض فينظروا كيف كان عاقبة الذين من قبلهم كانوا أكثر منهم وأشد قوة وآثارا في الأرض فما أغنى عنهم ما كانوا يكسبون
أَفَلَمْ يَسِيرُوا فِي الْأَرْضِ فَيَنظُرُوا كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ كَانُوا أَكْثَرَ مِنْهُمْ وَأَشَدَّ قُوَّةً وَآثَارًا فِي الْأَرْضِ فَمَا أَغْنَى عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا يَكْسِبُونَ |

| Elmalılı | Daha yeryüzünde gezip de bir bakmazlar mı? Kendilerinden öncekilerin sonu nasıl olmuş? Onlar kendilerinden hem daha çok, hem de kuvvetçe ve yeryüzündeki eserlerinin sağlamlığı bakımından daha çetindiler. Öyle iken o kazandıkları şeyler, kendilerini kurtaramadı. |
| Y. Ali | Do they not travel through the earth and see what was the End of those before them? They were more numerous than these and superior in strength and in the traces (they have left) in the land: Yet all that they accomplished was of no profit to them.

[40:83] | felemmâ câethüm rusülühüm bilbeyyinâti feriḥû bimâ `indehüm mine-l`ilmi veḥâḳa bihim mâ kânû bihî yestehziûn. | فلما جاءتهم رسلهم بالبينات فرحوا بما عندهم من العلم وحاق بهم ما كانوا به يستهزئون
فَلَمَّا جَاءَتْهُمْ رُسُلُهُم بِالْبَيِّنَاتِ فَرِحُوا بِمَا عِندَهُم مِّنَ الْعِلْمِ وَحَاقَ بِهِم مَّا كَانُوا بِهِ يَسْتَهْزِؤُون |

| Elmalılı | Çünkü onlara peygamberleri, delillerle geldikleri zaman, kendilerinde bulunan ilme güvendiler de o alay ettikleri şey onları kuşatıverdi. |
| Y. Ali | For when their messengers came to them with Clear Signs, they exulted in such knowledge (and skill) as they had; but that very (Wrath) at which they were wont to scoff hemmed them in.

[40:84] | felemmâ raev be'senâ ḳâlû âmennâ billâhi vaḥdehû vekefernâ bimâ künnâ bihî müşrikîn. | فلما رأوا بأسنا قالوا آمنا بالله وحده وكفرنا بما كنا به مشركين
فَلَمَّا رَأَوْا بَأْسَنَا قَالُوا آمَنَّا بِاللَّهِ وَحْدَهُ وَكَفَرْنَا بِمَا كُنَّا بِهِ مُشْرِكِينَ |

| Elmalılı | O zaman hışmımızı gördüklerinde: "Allah'ın birliğine inandık ve O'na şirk koştuğumuz şeyleri inkâr ettik" dediler. |
| Y. Ali | But when they saw Our Punishment, they said: "We believe in Allah,- the one Allah - and we reject the partners we used to join with Him."

[40:85] | felem yekü yenfe`uhüm îmânühüm lemmâ raev be'senâ. sünnete-llâhi-lletî ḳad ḫalet fî `ibâdih. veḫasira hünâlike-lkâfirûn. | فلم يك ينفعهم إيمانهم لما رأوا بأسنا سنت الله التي قد خلت في عباده وخسر هنالك الكافرون
فَلَمْ يَكُ يَنفَعُهُمْ إِيْمَانُهُمْ لَمَّا رَأَوْا بَأْسَنَا سُنَّتَ اللَّهِ الَّتِي قَدْ خَلَتْ فِي عِبَادِهِ وَخَسِرَ هُنَالِكَ الْكَافِرُونَ |

| Elmalılı | Ama hışmımızı gördükleri zamanki imanları kendilerine fayda verecek değildi. Allah'ın, kulları hakkındaki geçe gelen kanunu budur. İşte kâfirler bu noktada hüsrana düştüler. |
| Y. Ali | But their professing the Faith when they (actually) saw Our Punishment was not going to profit them. (Such has been) Allah's Way of dealing with His Servants (from the most ancient times). And even thus did the Rejecters of Allah perish (utterly)!
