[28:31] | veen elḳi `aṣâk. felemmâ raâhâ tehtezzü keennehâ cânnüv vellâ müdbirav velem yü`aḳḳib. yâ mûsâ aḳbil velâ teḫaf. inneke mine-l'âminîn. |  وأن ألق عصاك فلما رآها تهتز كأنها جان ولى مدبرا ولم يعقب يا موسى أقبل ولا تخف إنك من الآمنين
وَأَنْ أَلْقِ عَصَاكَ فَلَمَّا رَآهَا تَهْتَزُّ كَأَنَّهَا جَانٌّ وَلَّى مُدْبِرًا وَلَمْ يُعَقِّبْ يَا مُوسَى أَقْبِلْ وَلَا تَخَفْ إِنَّكَ مِنَ الْآمِنِينَ |

| Elmalılı | Ve "Asânı at!" denildi. Musa (attığı) asâyı yılan gibi debrenir görünce, dönüp arkasına bakmadan kaçtı. "Ey Musa! Beri gel, korkma. Çünkü sen emniyette olanlardansın." (buyuruldu.) |
| Y. Ali | "Now do thou throw thy rod!" but when he saw it moving (of its own accord) as if it had been a snake, he turned back in retreat, and retraced not his steps: O Moses!" (It was said), "Draw near, and fear not: for thou art of those who are secure.

[28:32] | üslük yedeke fî ceybike taḫruc beyḍâe min gayri sû'. vaḍmüm ileyke cenâḥake mine-rrahbi feẕânike bürhânâni mir rabbike ilâ fir`avne vemeleih. innehüm kânû ḳavmen fâsiḳîn. | اسلك يدك في جيبك تخرج بيضاء من غير سوء واضمم إليك جناحك من الرهب فذانك برهانان من ربك إلى فرعون وملئه إنهم كانوا قوما فاسقين
اسْلُكْ يَدَكَ فِي جَيْبِكَ تَخْرُجْ بَيْضَاءَ مِنْ غَيْرِ سُوءٍ وَاضْمُمْ إِلَيْكَ جَنَاحَكَ مِنَ الرَّهْبِ فَذَانِكَ بُرْهَانَانِ مِن رَّبِّكَ إِلَى فِرْعَوْنَ وَمَلَئِهِ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا قَوْمًا فَاسِقِينَ |

| Elmalılı | "Elini koynuna sok, kusursuz bembeyaz çıkacaktır. Korkudan (açılan) kollarını kendine çek. İşte bu ikisi Firavun ve onun adamlarına karşı Rabbin tarafından iki kesin delildir. Çünkü onlar, yoldan çıkan bir kavim olmuşlardır." (diye seslenildi) |
| Y. Ali | "Move thy hand into thy bosom, and it will come forth white without stain (or harm), and draw thy hand close to thy side (to guard) against fear. Those are the two credentials from thy Lord to Pharaoh and his Chiefs: for truly they are a people rebellious and wicked."

[28:33] | ḳâle rabbi innî ḳateltü minhüm nefsen feeḫâfü ey yaḳtülûn. | قال رب إني قتلت منهم نفسا فأخاف أن يقتلون
قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّي قَتَلْتُ مِنْهُمْ نَفْسًا فَأَخَافُ أَن يَقْتُلُونِ |

| Elmalılı | Musa dedi ki: "Rabbim! Ben onlardan birini öldürmüştüm, beni öldürmelerinden korkuyorum." |
| Y. Ali | He said: "O my Lord! I have slain a man among them, and I fear lest they slay me.

[28:34] | veeḫî hârûnü hüve efṣaḥu minnî lisânen feersilhü me`iye rid'ey yüṣaddiḳunî. innî eḫâfü ey yükeẕẕibûn. | وأخي هارون هو أفصح مني لسانا فأرسله معي ردءا يصدقني إني أخاف أن يكذبون
وَأَخِي هَارُونُ هُوَ أَفْصَحُ مِنِّي لِسَانًا فَأَرْسِلْهُ مَعِيَ رِدْءًا يُصَدِّقُنِي إِنِّي أَخَافُ أَن يُكَذِّبُونِ |

| Y. Ali | "And my brother Aaron - He is more eloquent in speech than I: so send him with me as a helper, to confirm (and strengthen) me: for I fear that they may accuse me of falsehood."

[28:35] | ḳâle seneşüddü `aḍudeke bieḫîke venec`alü lekümâ sülṭânen felâ yeṣilûne ileykümâ biâyâtinâ. entümâ vemeni-ttebe`aküme-lgâlibûn. | قال سنشد عضدك بأخيك ونجعل لكما سلطانا فلا يصلون إليكما بآياتنا أنتما ومن اتبعكما الغالبون
قَالَ سَنَشُدُّ عَضُدَكَ بِأَخِيكَ وَنَجْعَلُ لَكُمَا سُلْطَانًا فَلَا يَصِلُونَ إِلَيْكُمَا بِآيَاتِنَا أَنتُمَا وَمَنِ اتَّبَعَكُمَا الْغَالِبُونَ |

| Elmalılı | Allah buyurdu: "Seni kardeşinle destekliyeceğiz ve size öyle bir kudret vereceğiz ki, âyetlerimiz sayesinde onlar size erişemeyecekler. Siz ve size tabi olanlar üstün geleceksiniz." |
| Y. Ali | He said: "We will certainly strengthen thy arm through thy brother, and invest you both with authority, so they shall not be able to touch you: with Our Sign shall ye triumph,- you two as well as those who follow you."

[28:36] | felemmâ câehüm mûsâ biâyâtinâ beyyinâtin ḳâlû mâ hâẕâ illâ siḥrum müfterav vemâ semi`nâ bihâẕâ fî âbâine-l'evvelîn. | فلما جاءهم موسى بآياتنا بينات قالوا ما هذا إلا سحر مفترى وما سمعنا بهذا في آبائنا الأولين
فَلَمَّا جَاءَهُم مُّوسَى بِآيَاتِنَا بَيِّنَاتٍ قَالُوا مَا هَذَا إِلَّا سِحْرٌ مُّفْتَرًى وَمَا سَمِعْنَا بِهَذَا فِي آبَائِنَا الْأَوَّلِينَ |

| Elmalılı | Musa onlara apaçık âyetlerimizi getirince, "Bu, olsa olsa uydurulmuş bir sihirdir. Biz önceki atalarımızdan böylesini işitmemiştik" dediler. |
| Y. Ali | When Moses came to them with Our clear signs, they said: "This is nothing but sorcery faked up: never did we head the like among our fathers of old!"

[28:37] | veḳâle mûsâ rabbî a`lemü bimen câe bilhüdâ min `indihî vemen tekûnü lehû `âḳibetü-ddâr. innehû lâ yüfliḥu-żżâlimûn. | وقال موسى ربي أعلم بمن جاء بالهدى من عنده ومن تكون له عاقبة الدار إنه لا يفلح الظالمون
وَقَالَ مُوسَى رَبِّي أَعْلَمُ بِمَن جَاءَ بِالْهُدَى مِنْ عِندِهِ وَمَن تَكُونُ لَهُ عَاقِبَةُ الدَّارِ إِنَّهُ لَا يُفْلِحُ الظَّالِمُونَ |

| Elmalılı | Musa şöyle dedi: "Rabbim, kendi katından kimin hidayet rehberi getirdiğini ve hayırlı akibetin kime nasip olacağını en iyi bilendir. Muhakkak ki zalimler, kurtuluşa eremezler." |
| Y. Ali | Moses said: "My Lord knows best who it is that comes with guidance from Him and whose end will be best in the Hereafter: certain it is that the wrong-doers will not prosper."

[28:38] | veḳâle fir`avnü yâ eyyühe-lmeleü mâ `alimtü leküm min ilâhin gayrî. feevḳid lî yâ hâmânü `ale-ṭṭîni fec`al lî ṣarḥal le`allî eṭṭali`u ilâ ilâhi mûsâ veinnî leeżunnühû mine-lkâẕibîn. | وقال فرعون يا أيها الملأ ما علمت لكم من إله غيري فأوقد لي يا هامان على الطين فاجعل لي صرحا لعلي أطلع إلى إله موسى وإني لأظنه من الكاذبين
وَقَالَ فِرْعَوْنُ يَا أَيُّهَا الْمَلَأُ مَا عَلِمْتُ لَكُم مِّنْ إِلَهٍ غَيْرِي فَأَوْقِدْ لِي يَا هَامَانُ عَلَى الطِّينِ فَاجْعَل لِّي صَرْحًا لَّعَلِّي أَطَّلِعُ إِلَى إِلَهِ مُوسَى وَإِنِّي لَأَظُنُّهُ مِنَ الْكَاذِبِينَ |

| Elmalılı | Firavun: "Ey ileri gelenler! Sizin için benden başka bir ilâh tanımıyorum. Ey Hâmân, haydi benim için çamur üzerine ateş yak (ve tuğla imal et), bana bir kule yap ki, Musa'nın ilâhına çıkayım; ama sanıyorum, o mutlaka yalan söyleyenlerdendir." dedi. |
| Y. Ali | Pharaoh said: "O Chiefs! no god do I know for you but myself: therefore, O Haman! light me a (kiln to bake bricks) out of clay, and build me a lofty palace, that I may mount up to the god of Moses: but as far as I am concerned, I think (Moses) is a liar!"

[28:39] | vestekbera hüve vecünûdühû fi-l'arḍi bigayri-lḥaḳḳi veżannû ennehüm ileynâ lâ yürce`ûn. | واستكبر هو وجنوده في الأرض بغير الحق وظنوا أنهم إلينا لا يرجعون
وَاسْتَكْبَرَ هُوَ وَجُنُودُهُ فِي الْأَرْضِ بِغَيْرِ الْحَقِّ وَظَنُّوا أَنَّهُمْ إِلَيْنَا لَا يُرْجَعُونَ |

| Elmalılı | O ve askerleri, yeryüzünde haksız yere büyüklük tasladılar ve gerçekten bize döndürülmeyeceklerini sandılar. |
| Y. Ali | And he was arrogant and insolent in the land, beyond reason,- He and his hosts: they thought that they would not have to return to Us!

[28:40] | feeḫaẕnâhü vecünûdehû fenebeẕnâhüm fi-lyemm. fenżur keyfe kâne `âḳibetu-żżâlimîn. | فأخذناه وجنوده فنبذناهم في اليم فانظر كيف كان عاقبة الظالمين
فَأَخَذْنَاهُ وَجُنُودَهُ فَنَبَذْنَاهُمْ فِي الْيَمِّ فَانظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الظَّالِمِينَ |

| Elmalılı | Biz de onu ve askerlerini yakalayıp denize atıverdik. Bir bak, zalimlerin sonu nice oldu! |
| Y. Ali | So We seized him and his hosts, and We flung them into the sea: Now behold what was the end of those who did wrong!

وَجَعَلْنَاهُمْ أَئِمَّةً يَدْعُونَ إِلَى النَّارِ وَيَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ لَا يُنصَرُونَ |

| Elmalılı | Onları ateşe çağıran öncüler kıldık. Kıyamet günü onlar yardım görmeyeceklerdir. |
| Y. Ali | And we made them (but) leaders inviting to the Fire; and on the Day of Judgment no help shall they find.

[28:42] | veetba`nâhüm fî hâẕihi-ddünyâ la`neten. veyevme-lḳiyâmeti hüm mine-lmaḳbûḥîn. | وأتبعناهم في هذه الدنيا لعنة ويوم القيامة هم من المقبوحين
وَأَتْبَعْنَاهُمْ فِي هَذِهِ الدُّنْيَا لَعْنَةً وَيَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ هُم مِّنَ الْمَقْبُوحِينَ |

| Elmalılı | Bu dünyada arkalarına lanet taktık. Onlar, kıyamet gününde de kötülenmişler arasındadır. |
| Y. Ali | in this world We made a curse to follow them and on the Day of Judgment they will be among the loathed (and despised).

[28:43] | veleḳad âteynâ mûse-lkitâbe mim ba`di mâ ehlekne-lḳurûne-l'ûlâ beṣâira linnâsi vehüdev veraḥmetel le`allehüm yeteẕekkerûn. | ولقد آتينا موسى الكتاب من بعد ما أهلكنا القرون الأولى بصائر للناس وهدى ورحمة لعلهم يتذكرون
وَلَقَدْ آتَيْنَا مُوسَى الْكِتَابَ مِن بَعْدِ مَا أَهْلَكْنَا الْقُرُونَ الْأُولَى بَصَائِرَ لِلنَّاسِ وَهُدًى وَرَحْمَةً لَّعَلَّهُمْ يَتَذَكَّرُونَ |

| Elmalılı | Andolsun ki biz, ilk nesilleri yok ettikten sonra Musa'ya olur ki düşünür, öğüt alırlar diye, insanlar için apaçık deliller, hidayet rehberi ve rahmet olarak o Kitab'ı (Tevrat'ı) vermişizdir. |
| Y. Ali | We did reveal to Moses the Book after We had destroyed the earlier generations, (to give) Insight to men, and guidance and Mercy, that they might receive admonition.

[28:44] | vemâ künte bicânibi-lgarbiyyi iẕ ḳaḍaynâ ilâ mûse-l'emra vemâ künte mine-şşâhidîn. | وما كنت بجانب الغربي إذ قضينا إلى موسى الأمر وما كنت من الشاهدين
وَمَا كُنتَ بِجَانِبِ الْغَرْبِيِّ إِذْ قَضَيْنَا إِلَى مُوسَى الْأَمْرَ وَمَا كُنتَ مِنَ الشَّاهِدِينَ |

| Elmalılı | (Resulüm!) Musa'ya emrimizi vahyettiğimiz sırada sen batı yönünde bulunmuyordun ve (o hadiseyi) görenlerden değildin. |
| Y. Ali | Thou wast not on the Western side when We decreed the Commission to Moses, nor wast thou a witness (of those events).

[28:45] | velâkinnâ enşe'nâ ḳurûnen feteṭâvele `aleyhimü-l`umür. vemâ künte ŝâviyen fî ehli medyene tetlû `aleyhim âyâtinâ velâkinnâ künnâ mürsilîn. | ولكنا أنشأنا قرونا فتطاول عليهم العمر وما كنت ثاويا في أهل مدين تتلو عليهم آياتنا ولكنا كنا مرسلين
وَلَكِنَّا أَنشَأْنَا قُرُونًا فَتَطَاوَلَ عَلَيْهِمُ الْعُمُرُ وَمَا كُنتَ ثَاوِيًا فِي أَهْلِ مَدْيَنَ تَتْلُواْ عَلَيْهِمْ آيَاتِنَا وَلَكِنَّا كُنَّا مُرْسِلِينَ |

| Elmalılı | Bilakis biz (o zamandan senin zamanına kadar) nice nesiller var ettik de, onların üzerinden uzun zamanlar geçti. Sen onlara âyetlerimizi okuyarak, Medyen halkı arasında bulunanlardan da değildin; aksine biz (başka) peygamber göndermiştik. |
| Y. Ali | But We raised up (new) generations, and long were the ages that passed over them; but thou wast not a dweller among the people of Madyan, rehearsing Our Signs to them; but it is We Who send messengers (with inspiration).

[28:46] | vemâ künte bicânibi-ṭṭûri iẕ nâdeynâ velâkir raḥmetem mir rabbike litünẕira ḳavmem mâ etâhüm min neẕîrim min ḳablike le`allehüm yeteẕekkerûn. | وما كنت بجانب الطور إذ نادينا ولكن رحمة من ربك لتنذر قوما ما أتاهم من نذير من قبلك لعلهم يتذكرون
وَمَا كُنتَ بِجَانِبِ الطُّورِ إِذْ نَادَيْنَا وَلَكِن رَّحْمَةً مِّن رَّبِّكَ لِتُنذِرَ قَوْمًا مَّا أَتَاهُم مِّن نَّذِيرٍ مِّن قَبْلِكَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَذَكَّرُونَ |

| Y. Ali | Nor wast thou at the side of (the Mountain of) Tur when we called (to Moses). Yet (art thou sent) as Mercy from thy Lord, to give warning to a people to whom no warner had come before thee: in order that they may receive admonition.

[28:47] | velevlâ en tüṣîbehüm müṣîbetüm bimâ ḳaddemet eydîhim feyeḳûlû rabbenâ levlâ erselte ileynâ rasûlen fenettebi`a âyâtike venekûne mine-lmü'minîn. | ولولا أن تصيبهم مصيبة بما قدمت أيديهم فيقولوا ربنا لولا أرسلت إلينا رسولا فنتبع آياتك ونكون من المؤمنين
وَلَوْلَا أَن تُصِيبَهُم مُّصِيبَةٌ بِمَا قَدَّمَتْ أَيْدِيهِمْ فَيَقُولُوا رَبَّنَا لَوْلَا أَرْسَلْتَ إِلَيْنَا رَسُولًا فَنَتَّبِعَ آيَاتِكَ وَنَكُونَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ |

| Elmalılı | Bizzat kendi yaptıklarından dolayı başlarına bir musibet geldiğinde, "Rabbimiz! Ne olurdu bize bir peygamber gönderseydin de, âyetlerine uysak ve müminlerden olsaydık" diyecek olmasalardı (seni göndermezdik). |
| Y. Ali | If (We had) not (sent thee to the Quraish),- in case a calamity should seize them for (the deeds) that their hands have sent forth, they might say: "Our Lord! why didst Thou not sent us a messenger? We should then have followed Thy Signs and been amongst those who believe!"

[28:48] | felemmâ câehümü-lḥaḳḳu min `indinâ ḳâlû levlâ ûtiye miŝle mâ ûtiye mûsâ. evelem yekfürû bimâ ûtiye mûsâ min ḳabl. ḳâlû siḥrâni teżâherâ. veḳâlû innâ biküllin kâfirûn. | فلما جاءهم الحق من عندنا قالوا لولا أوتي مثل ما أوتي موسى أولم يكفروا بما أوتي موسى من قبل قالوا سحران تظاهرا وقالوا إنا بكل كافرون
فَلَمَّا جَاءَهُمُ الْحَقُّ مِنْ عِندِنَا قَالُوا لَوْلَا أُوتِيَ مِثْلَ مَا أُوتِيَ مُوسَى أَوَلَمْ يَكْفُرُوا بِمَا أُوتِيَ مُوسَى مِن قَبْلُ قَالُوا سِحْرَانِ تَظَاهَرَا وَقَالُوا إِنَّا بِكُلٍّ كَافِرُونَ |

| Elmalılı | Fakat onlara tarafımızdan o hak (peygamber) gelince, "Musa'ya verilen (mucizeler) gibi ona da verilmeli değil miydi?" dediler. Peki daha önce Musa'ya verileni de inkâr etmemişler miydi? "Birbirini destekleyen iki sihir" demişler ve şunu söylemişlerdi: "Doğrusu biz hiçbirine inanmıyoruz." |
| Y. Ali | But (now), when the Truth has come to them from Ourselves, they say, "Why are not (Signs) sent to him, like those which were sent to Moses?" Do they not then reject (the Signs) which were formerly sent to Moses? They say: "Two kinds of sorcery, each assisting the other!" And they say: "For us, we reject all (such things)!"

[28:49] | ḳul fe'tû bikitâbim min `indi-llâhi hüve ehdâ minhümâ ettebi`hü in küntüm ṣâdiḳîn. | قل فأتوا بكتاب من عند الله هو أهدى منهما أتبعه إن كنتم صادقين
قُلْ فَأْتُوا بِكِتَابٍ مِّنْ عِندِ اللَّهِ هُوَ أَهْدَى مِنْهُمَا أَتَّبِعْهُ إِن كُنتُمْ صَادِقِينَ |

| Elmalılı | (Resulüm!) De ki: "Eğer doğru sözlüler iseniz, Allah katından bu ikisinden (bana ve Musa'ya inen kitaplardan) daha doğru bir kitap getirin de ben ona uyayım!" |
| Y. Ali | Say: "Then bring ye a Book from Allah, which is a better guide than either of them, that I may follow it! (do), if ye are truthful!"

[28:50] | feil lem yestecîbû leke fa`lem ennemâ yettebi`ûne ehvâehüm. vemen eḍallü mimmeni-ttebe`a hevâhü bigayri hüdem mine-llâh. inne-llâhe lâ yehdi-lḳavme-żżâlimîn. | فإن لم يستجيبوا لك فاعلم أنما يتبعون أهواءهم ومن أضل ممن اتبع هواه بغير هدى من الله إن الله لا يهدي القوم الظالمين
فَإِن لَّمْ يَسْتَجِيبُوا لَكَ فَاعْلَمْ أَنَّمَا يَتَّبِعُونَ أَهْوَاءَهُمْ وَمَنْ أَضَلُّ مِمَّنِ اتَّبَعَ هَوَاهُ بِغَيْرِ هُدًى مِّنَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَهْدِي الْقَوْمَ الظَّالِمِينَ |

| Elmalılı | Eğer sana cevap vermezlerse, bil ki onlar, sırf heveslerine uymaktadırlar. Allah'tan bir yol gösterici olmaksızın kendi hevesine uyandan daha sapık kim olabilir? Elbette Allah zalim kavmi doğru yola iletmez. |
| Y. Ali | But if they hearken not to thee, know that they only follow their own lusts: and who is more astray than one who follow his own lusts, devoid of guidance from Allah? for Allah guides not people given to wrong-doing.

[28:51] | veleḳad veṣṣalnâ lehümü-lḳavle le`allehüm yeteẕekkerûn. | ولقد وصلنا لهم القول لعلهم يتذكرون
وَلَقَدْ وَصَّلْنَا لَهُمُ الْقَوْلَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَذَكَّرُونَ |

| Elmalılı | Andolsun ki biz, düşünüp öğüt alsınlar diye, sözü (vahyi) birbiri ardınca ulamışızdır. |
| Y. Ali | Now have We caused the Word to reach them themselves, in order that they may receive admonition.

[28:52] | elleẕîne âteynâhümü-lkitâbe min ḳablihî hüm bihî yü'minûn. | الذين آتيناهم الكتاب من قبله هم به يؤمنون
الَّذِينَ آتَيْنَاهُمُ الْكِتَابَ مِن قَبْلِهِ هُم بِهِ يُؤْمِنُونَ |

| Elmalılı | Ondan (Kur'ân'dan) önce kendilerine kitap verdiklerimiz, ona da iman ederler. |
| Y. Ali | Those to whom We sent the Book before this,- they do believe in this (revelation):

[28:53] | veiẕâ yütlâ `aleyhim ḳâlû âmennâ bihî innehü-lḥaḳḳu mir rabbinâ innâ künnâ min ḳablihî müslimîn. | وإذا يتلى عليهم قالوا آمنا به إنه الحق من ربنا إنا كنا من قبله مسلمين
وَإِذَا يُتْلَى عَلَيْهِمْ قَالُوا آمَنَّا بِهِ إِنَّهُ الْحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّنَا إِنَّا كُنَّا مِن قَبْلِهِ مُسْلِمِينَ |

| Elmalılı | Onlara (Kur'ân) okunduğu zaman "O'na iman ettik. Çünkü o, Rabbimizden gelmiş hakikattir. Esasen biz daha önce de müslüman idik" derler. |
| Y. Ali | And when it is recited to them, they say: "We believe therein, for it is the Truth from our Lord: indeed we have been Muslims (bowing to Allah's Will) from before this.

[28:54] | ülâike yü'tevne ecrahüm merrateyni bimâ ṣaberû veyedraûne bilḥaseneti-sseyyiete vemimmâ razaḳnâhüm yünfiḳûn. | أولئك يؤتون أجرهم مرتين بما صبروا ويدرءون بالحسنة السيئة ومما رزقناهم ينفقون
أُوْلَئِكَ يُؤْتَوْنَ أَجْرَهُم مَّرَّتَيْنِ بِمَا صَبَرُوا وَيَدْرَؤُونَ بِالْحَسَنَةِ السَّيِّئَةَ وَمِمَّا رَزَقْنَاهُمْ يُنفِقُونَ |

| Elmalılı | İşte onlara, sabretmelerinden ötürü mükafatları iki defa verilecektir. Bunlar kötülüğü iyilikle savarlar, kendilerine verdiğimiz rızıktan da Allah rızası için harcarlar. |
| Y. Ali | Twice will they be given their reward, for that they have persevered, that they avert Evil with Good, and that they spend (in charity) out of what We have given them.

| Words | |أولئك - Those| يؤتون - will be given| أجرهم - their reward| مرتين - twice| بما - because| صبروا - they are patient| ويدرءون - and they repel| بالحسنة - with good -| السيئة - the evil| ومما - and from what| رزقناهم - We have provided them| ينفقون - they spend.| |

[28:55] | veiẕâ semi`ü-llagve a`raḍû `anhü veḳâlû lenâ a`mâlünâ veleküm a`mâlüküm. selâmün `aleyküm. lâ nebtegi-lcâhilîn. | وإذا سمعوا اللغو أعرضوا عنه وقالوا لنا أعمالنا ولكم أعمالكم سلام عليكم لا نبتغي الجاهلين
وَإِذَا سَمِعُوا اللَّغْوَ أَعْرَضُوا عَنْهُ وَقَالُوا لَنَا أَعْمَالُنَا وَلَكُمْ أَعْمَالُكُمْ سَلَامٌ عَلَيْكُمْ لَا نَبْتَغِي الْجَاهِلِينَ |

| Elmalılı | Onlar, boş söz işittikleri zaman, ondan yüz çevirirler ve "Bizim işlerimiz bize, sizin işleriniz size. Size selam olsun. Biz kendini bilmezleri istemeyiz" derler. |
| Y. Ali | And when they hear vain talk, they turn away therefrom and say: "To us our deeds, and to you yours; peace be to you: we seek not the ignorant."

26.
[28:56] | inneke lâ tehdî men aḥbebte velâkinne-llâhe yehdî mey yeşâ'. vehüve a`lemü bilmühtedîn. | إنك لا تهدي من أحببت ولكن الله يهدي من يشاء وهو أعلم بالمهتدين
إِنَّكَ لَا تَهْدِي مَنْ أَحْبَبْتَ وَلَكِنَّ اللَّهَ يَهْدِي مَن يَشَاءُ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِالْمُهْتَدِينَ |

| Elmalılı | (Resulüm!) Sen sevdiğini hidayete eriştiremezsin; bilakis, Allah dilediğine hidayet verir ve hidayete girecek olanları en iyi O bilir. |
| Y. Ali | It is true thou wilt not be able to guide every one, whom thou lovest; but Allah guides those whom He will and He knows best those who receive guidance.

[28:57] | veḳâlû in nettebi`i-lhüdâ me`ake nüteḫattef min arḍinâ. evelem nümekkil lehüm ḥaramen âminey yücbâ ileyhi ŝemerâtü külli şey'ir rizḳam mil ledünnâ velâkinne ekŝerahüm lâ ya`lemûn. | وقالوا إن نتبع الهدى معك نتخطف من أرضنا أولم نمكن لهم حرما آمنا يجبى إليه ثمرات كل شيء رزقا من لدنا ولكن أكثرهم لا يعلمون
وَقَالُوا إِن نَّتَّبِعِ الْهُدَى مَعَكَ نُتَخَطَّفْ مِنْ أَرْضِنَا أَوَلَمْ نُمَكِّن لَّهُمْ حَرَمًا آمِنًا يُجْبَى إِلَيْهِ ثَمَرَاتُ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ رِزْقًا مِن لَّدُنَّا وَلَكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ |

| Elmalılı | "Biz seninle beraber doğru yola uyarsak, yurdumuzdan atılırız" dediler. Biz onları, kendi katımızdan bir rızık olarak her şeyin ürünlerinin toplanıp getirildiği, güvenli, dokunulmaz bir yere (Mekkei Mükerreme'ye) yerleştirmedik mi? Fakat onların çoğu bilmezler. |
| Y. Ali | They say: "If we were to follow the guidance with thee, we should be snatched away from our land." Have We not established for them a secure sanctuary, to which are brought as tribute fruits of all kinds,- a provision from Ourselves? but most of them understand not.

| Words | |وقالوا - And they say,| إن - "If| نتبع - we follow| الهدى - the guidance| معك - with you,| نتخطف - we would be swept| من - from| أرضنا - our land."| أولم - Have not| نمكن - We established| لهم - for them| حرما - a sanctuary| آمنا - secure,| يجبى - are brought| إليه - to it| ثمرات - fruits| كل - (of) all| شيء - things,| رزقا - a provision| من - from| لدنا - Us?| ولكن - But| أكثرهم - most of them| لا - (do) not| يعلمون - know.| |
28.
[28:58] | vekem ehleknâ min ḳaryetim beṭirat me`îşetehâ. fetilke mesâkinühüm lem tüskem mim ba`dihim illâ ḳalîlâ. vekünnâ naḥnü-lvâriŝîn. | وكم أهلكنا من قرية بطرت معيشتها فتلك مساكنهم لم تسكن من بعدهم إلا قليلا وكنا نحن الوارثين
وَكَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا مِن قَرْيَةٍ بَطِرَتْ مَعِيشَتَهَا فَتِلْكَ مَسَاكِنُهُمْ لَمْ تُسْكَن مِّن بَعْدِهِمْ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا وَكُنَّا نَحْنُ الْوَارِثِينَ |

| Elmalılı | Biz, maişetleriyle şımarmış nice memleketi helak etmişizdir. İşte yerleri! Kendilerinden sonra oralarda pek az oturulabilmiştir. Onlara biz varis olmuşuzdur. |
| Y. Ali | And how many populations We destroyed, which exulted in their life (of ease and plenty)! now those habitations of theirs, after them, are deserted,- All but a (miserable) few! and We are their heirs!

| Words | |وكم - And how many| أهلكنا - We have destroyed| من - of| قرية - a town| بطرت - which exulted,| معيشتها - (in) its means of livelihood.| فتلك - And these| مساكنهم - (are) their dwellings| لم - not| تسكن - have been inhabited| من - after them| بعدهم - after them| إلا - except| قليلا - a little.| وكنا - And indeed, [We]| نحن - We| الوارثين - (are) the inheritors.| |
29.
[28:59] | vemâ kâne rabbüke mühlike-lḳurâ ḥattâ yeb`aŝe fî ümmihâ rasûley yetlû `aleyhim âyâtinâ. vemâ künnâ mühliki-lḳurâ illâ veehlühâ żâlimûn. | وما كان ربك مهلك القرى حتى يبعث في أمها رسولا يتلو عليهم آياتنا وما كنا مهلكي القرى إلا وأهلها ظالمون
وَمَا كَانَ رَبُّكَ مُهْلِكَ الْقُرَى حَتَّى يَبْعَثَ فِي أُمِّهَا رَسُولًا يَتْلُواْ عَلَيْهِمْ آيَاتِنَا وَمَا كُنَّا مُهْلِكِي الْقُرَى إِلَّا وَأَهْلُهَا ظَالِمُونَ |

| Elmalılı | Rabbin, kendilerine âyetlerimizi okuyan bir peygamberi memleketlerin ana merkezlerine göndermedikçe, memleketleri helâk edici değildir. Zaten biz, ancak halkı zalim olan memleketleri helâk etmişizdir. |
| Y. Ali | Nor was thy Lord the one to destroy a population until He had sent to its centre a messenger, rehearsing to them Our Signs; nor are We going to destroy a population except when its members practise iniquity.

[28:60] | vemâ ûtîtüm min şey'in femetâ`u-lḥayâti-ddünyâ vezînetühâ. vemâ `inde-llâhi ḫayruv veebḳâ. efelâ ta`ḳilûn. | وما أوتيتم من شيء فمتاع الحياة الدنيا وزينتها وما عند الله خير وأبقى أفلا تعقلون
وَمَا أُوتِيتُم مِّن شَيْءٍ فَمَتَاعُ الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا وَزِينَتُهَا وَمَا عِندَ اللَّهِ خَيْرٌ وَأَبْقَى أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ |

| Elmalılı | Size verilen şeyler, dünya hayatının geçim vasıtası ve debdebesidir. Allah katında olanlar ise, daha hayırlı ve daha kalıcıdır. Hâlâ buna aklınız ermeyecek mi? |
| Y. Ali | The (material) things which ye are given are but the conveniences of this life and the glitter thereof; but that which is with Allah is better and more enduring: will ye not then be wise?
